to off-shore.

First the jobs and many industries have been off-shored. Good jobs are rare and promotions sideways. The CEOs get it all.
Engineers are expected to put in long hours and travel the globe at a moments notice. Their divorce rate is high today when that was not true in the past. They are also legally held responsible instead of the customer or other workers. There is little financial compensation for such skill, education, or effort.
Engineering families don't see sending their children to college for that type of future.
Japan is having the same problem with engineers as America. The good jobs no longer exist and industries are sent off-shore for cheaper labor. Globalization could well leave the world with less advancement in technology and manufacturing. Engineers are involved in every sector of our society. We should be concerned.
