School Cover Up? Or Ignorance?
Either way, this is disgusting. I'm surprised no one has posted this yet.

http://www.ky3.com/news/ky3-lawsuit-claims-republic-schools-didnt-handle-alleged-rape-of-student-properly-20110815,0,3746812.story

From what I understand, a girl at this middle school was raped several times and repeatedly reported it to school officials. School officials actually made her write her rapist an apology note saying she was making the whole thing up... he has since been arrested by police (with a lot of evidence attached). Really?! How can this happen?

3. Just Fyi, It isn't Kentucky
This is in Republic, Missouri, down near Springfield. This is also the same school that made headlines recently for banning books at the school...

2. This is so outrageous I have to wonder if there is more that is not being said
I can not fathom an educator doing such things. Literally unthinkable.

If true, I can not imagine a punishment harsh enough.

6. The ONLY thing left unsaid is WHO are the parents of the boy...
...or what that boy otherwise represented to the school.

Someone, several someones had what was to them a very good reason to make the first incident to have never happened.

If this boy was only a year or two older, it would not be at all surprising to learn of prior (and quite possibly hushed up) incidents in his life. In fact it would not particularly surprise me to learn that he'd already started in on "earning a reputation" before he attented the school.

4. Anothe article on this...
http://www.news-leader.com/article/20110816/NEWS12/110816008/Lawsuit-filed-against-Republic-School-District-over-rape-claim

"The school district’s 19-page response was filed July 29.

“Plaintiff’s claims against the District are frivolous, and have no basis in fact or law” said the response, written by the school district’s lawyers Celynda Brasher and Michelle Basi. “Therefore, the District Defendants are entitled to an award of their reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs.”

The girl failed and neglected to use reasonable means to protect her self, the response says. Any damages the girl may have sustained, “were as a result of the negligence, carelessness, or conduct of third parties over whom the District Defendants had neither control nor the right to control,” according to the school district response."

The victim should NEVER be blamed.
