In Florida, both anti-gay political rhetoric and hate crimes are on rise

This is an interesting article on recent events in Florida. I've not been there in a while, but I didn't realize things were getting this bad.

2. Unfortunately, things like this are way too common.

Any time "gay" issues are in the news, there's a corresponding increase in the number of anti-LGBT hate crimes. That's why more hate crimes are reported in June (Gay Pride Month) than any other time of year.

Also, in states where "marriage amendments" have been on the ballots, hate crimes against gays increase the closer it gets to election and the more interest the media takes in covering the issue (and the more the right-wingers start yapping about "special rights fer them homo-seck-shuls").

The hate radio monsters should not be merely put out of business, but furthermore prosecuted.
