Another bigot bites the dust...

The homophobic former mayor of Warsaw, Lech Kaczynski (pictured at far left with his twin brother) was sworn in as Poland's president Friday.

His anti-gay stance prompted the European Union to issue a statement saying "Poland could lose its EU voting rights if its newly elected president continues to oppose gay rights and seeks to introduce the death penalty, the European Commission warned yesterday."

As mayor of Warsaw the staunch conservative and devout Catholic Kaczynski twice banned the Equality Parade calling it "sexually obscene" then authorized a Normality parade in which Polish youth shouted slogans inciting intolerance and homophobia.

Good riddance to fascist trash. The other people in that plane and their families have my sympathies, but Kacynski is rotting away in Hell with Thurmond, Reagan, and Pinochet.

For those who don't know about the plane crash, the disconnect between your title and snippet (and link) is quite large. I DID know about the plane crash, and even I was a little confused at first.

5. The Sad Thing Is...

there were some good people who died as well--from what I understand there were Poliah political figures who did work for GLBT rights on that plane as well. As for this Kaczynski...well I do not believe that he will be missed by the GLBT community of Poland.
