Newsweek writer says he was misunderstood. He wasn’t.
Newsweek scribe Ramin Setoodeh thinks it’s time people took a refresher in reading comprehension. For the weekly’s May 10 issue he wrote an essay called “Straight Jacket.” He insists he was only wondering why “as a society, it’s often hard for us to accept an openly gay actor playing a straight character.”

This so called innocent inquiry earned Setoodeh a lot of grief. Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth wrote a letter calling him a gay homophobe. Hard to disagree after reading this line about her Promises, Promises co-star Sean Hayes.

“But frankly, it’s weird seeing Hayes play straight. He comes off as wooden and insincere, like he’s trying to hide something, which of course he is. Even the play’s most hilarious scene, when Chuck tries to pick up a drunk woman at a bar, devolves into unintentional camp. Is it funny because of all the ’60s-era one-liners, or because the woman is so drunk (and clueless) that she agrees to go home with a guy we all know is gay?”

1. so now it's everyone else's fault he's a homophobe, yes?
I watched him in an interview -- he was still dissing Hayes's performance *because* Hayes was a gay man playing a straight character.

What a maroon....

2. Playing the gay "victim" card doesn't make him a homphobe.
It makes him a fool.

4. if it were a straight person saying the things he was in the interview I watched
He would have been called a homophobe.

That being said, I agree, he's also a fool. And a whiny one at that.

3. I Love How Every Douchebag Who Writes An Anti-Gay Article Later Claims That Everyone Else Can't Read
Maybe YOU can't WRITE, asshole. Ever think of that?
