everything with this administration has to be a goddamn compromise....
...especially when it comes to GLBT rights. God forbid that our Fierce Advocate ever stand for something.

What happened to our President actually repealing DADT??? I guess he doesn't have the stomach for that....or ENDA....or anything else that requires him to take a stand on anything.

The DADT compromise sucks ass. When will our rights stop being compromised?

7. I have learned to HATE the very word "compromise"! I used to think it was a good think but
abuse has made me loathe the very word. It is a code for empty promises and a shell game.

22. I nearly vomit now when I hear "pragmatic."
It used to be a perfectly noble word, but now it seems to mean something like "act just like a knuckle-dragging Republican."

8. Wait a minute, I thought the compromise involved congress voting to repeal DADT but not
actually implementing it until the Pentagon has completed its study (next year.) The delay sucks, absolutely, but isn't it at least some progress made to have it passed and on-line to be implemented??? Am I missing something here?

10. Yes your missing the part were all parties have to agree its time - including Gates
The House and Senate will pass legislation this year that provides that "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" will be considered repealed if and when the following happens:

1. The Secretary of Defense receives the "study."
2. The President, the Secretary of Defense, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs certify that:
- They have considered the recommendations in the study
- DOD has prepared the necessary policies and regulations needed to implement a repeal
- The implementation of the repeal is consistent with the standards of military readiness, military effectiveness, unit cohesion, and recruiting and retention.

Current policy will remain in place until the above conditions are satisfied. And if the above conditions are never satisfied, the current DADT policy will remain in place.

There is nothing in the legislation that says the repeal must happen.

He could NOT LOBBY AGAINST it, like he did.

18. Someone needs to send the president to a flea market,
so that he can learn the basics of negotiation.

You don't do it by saying, "I'm going to offer you twenty bucks for that, but I'm actually willing to pay a hundred."

30. Exactly!
Obama begins his compromises by giving them everything they want, then they complain a little, then he gives them even more.

Meanwhile, if a gay person dares say anything about it, he puts us "in our place."

I'm so sick of this shit.
