MN Marriage Ban In Jeopardy After Anti-Gay Prayer By Bradlee Dean (Gays should be jailed/executed)
MN Marriage Ban In Jeopardy After Anti-Gay Prayer By Bradlee Dean

Yesterday virulently anti-gay preacher Bradlee Dean delivered the invocation before the Minnesota legislature. Dean's prayer was so offensive, it may have the unintended result of thwarting the attempt to place a ban on same-sex marriage on the statewide ballot.

Dean, who heads a ministry he calls "You Can Run But You Can't Hide," has caused uproars before, saying homosexuals should be jailed and making comments that appear to support their execution. Friday's bombshell arrived just as legislators were prepping for a vote to put the amendment question on the 2012 ballot. While the vote had once seemed a certainty for this session, by Friday afternoon it was in serious doubt.

"We never said whether we are going to take it up or not," said Zellers, R-Maple Grove. Pressed on the timing of the vote, Zellers said: "At this point, I don't and I'm not prepared to say." Zellers later said he still believes he has the votes to pass the amendment. The Minnesota Family Council, advocates of the amendment, sent out an evening e-mail to its members, asking them to turn out at the State Capitol to apply pressure. The Legislature must adjourn its regular session by Monday at midnight.

The Republican legislator who invited Dean to speak compared him to a Nazi, adding: "Little did I know there's another side of him, which, by the way, I just learned today." That seems doubtful, as Dean is easily the most famously evil homophobe in Minnesota.

2. Here's a link. What a douchebag.
Nothing specifically anti-gay in the prayer, but wow, how offensive otherwise.

4. I call BS on the legislator who invited him.
I don't believe for a moment that he was unaware of Dean's track record.

5. I agree. This is the SOP
the Repugs gauge what the reaction is and then make their statement off of the reaction. The legislator thought that there would be no backlash and then they could have pushed the legislation...they are liars if their lips are moving they are lieing.

6. This guy is straight from hell. The devil comes in many disguises. Christians
need to wake up and realize many of these fools are evil as hell and have nothing to do with god or Jesus. They are hate mongers operating under the veil of Christianity to do their evil bidding.

7. The hateful marriage amendment ban passed the House
It's now on the ballot for the voters. And here we go again...that fat cow Maggie Gallagher and her fellow NOM hatemongers will swoop into Minnesota, along with the millions of dollars from their masters, the catholic and mormon churches, to spread the most hateful, shameful lies about us and our families.

9. I feel pretty heartsick, and disappointed in my legislature this morning
Thanks to the 4 Republicans who voted NO on the measure.
JEERS to the 2 Democrats who refused to vote.

8. What a Fundie Piece of Shit
Looks like it is going on the ballot. WHY should these barbarians be allowed to vote on laws which will not affect them?

10. That prayer, while full of offensive horseshit, said nothing about gay people.
The headline is pretty misleading since it calls the prayer an anti-gay prayer.
