What do you do when living single that you don't do otherwise?
I just came home from work, sat at the computer, and poured myself a glass of port out of the same glass I had port in yesterday and the day before. Hey, it was empty, and it had port in it the last time. I would never have done that when living with my husband.

What kinds of things do you do when living single that you don't do when living with a partner?

2. When my husband's out of town, I often fall asleep in the chair...
and stay there for most of the night. Also, I'm much less likely to eat "real" meals for dinner.

3. Whatever the hell I wanted to....
All kinds of stuff, like getting out of bed at 1 am to go eat at Waffle House and grocery shop or buy clothes at Wal-mart afterward. There is nothing like a shopping spree for bed sheets and towels at 3 am.

The couple of times I've tried that since I met my husband, he's thrown a fit over it.

5. Walk around wearing only a t shirt and
underwear.

Eat cereal for dinner

Eat ice cream for dinner

Well, I have a roommate and I still do eat cereal and ice cream for dinner. I no longer go about the place dressed only in a t shirt and underwear.

7. Yes! I'll walk around in boxers and socks and no shirt
That would have flipped his lid.

I have to remind myself sometimes that I still really ought not to stand shirtless in front of the open window to smoke.

10. Am straight and widowed
and relatively happy that way - until various handy projects loom ala small electrical, tub caulking etc. Also those times when I need a sounding board for those issues which cannot be addressed to my satisfaction by close friends and those random moments when I miss the physical intimacy.

On those nights such as these I pour generous libations of wine (yes, even in the same glass) and muse on the good things in my life such as dear friends and rewarding work and realize that the other things will not be solved without a HUGE sacrifice on my part to accommodate another person who has NEEDS which generally require more attention than I must admit I am willing to give.

If someone should come my way -- fine -- but now am not willing to go through the time and energy to search for someone to fill the intermittent void.

The other things I do - let the "piles" accumulate around the house, use more takeout and spend more time nourishing my friends as they do me via time, small gifts, Also more time on DU...............

11. Like a lot of posters here
I would eat what I weanted whenever my husband was out of town. Sometimes, I would have cereal and milk or eggs and toast for dinner. sometimes it would be a can of Campbell's chicken soup. I would buy bagged salads and eat them. There were times that I let housework pile up too.
