Teen sues Christian high school for expulsion over lesbian kiss
A lesbian teen who was expelled in April for kissing another girl is suing her private school to ensure other students never have to experience what she went through.

Jessica Bradley and her father, Ronald Bradley, claim that Covenant Christian Academy in Loganville, Ga., breached its contract with them by expelling the ninth-grader for carrying on an "inappropriate relationship" in violation of the school's standard of conduct on "sexual immorality."

The suit filed in Gwinnett Superior Court last Friday also claims the school invaded Jessica's privacy by airing details of her personal life and outing her to the community, even though her conduct was "private, protected behavior that did not have a direct and immediate effect on the discipline or general welfare of the school."

In addition to asking for a pro-rated tuition refund plus $1 million in damages, the suit seeks an injunction on the "sexual immorality" clause in the school's code of conduct so that other students will not "suffer the unexpected harassment and humiliation that Jessica Bradley did."

1. Great. Just great. More bad publicity for GA.
Loganville is in Gwinett County near the town of Snellville. Christian academies and schools are all over the place. I wonder iof they expell boys who have heterosexual sex or who masturbate? :grr:

2. I think that she may have a good chance on the privacy argument
But they can't really make a private religious institution change its code of conduct.

I do hope she wins, because they did violate her privacy -- and I don't agree with the schools determination of "sexual immorality", but I do support their right to make that determination.

3. While
I don't think kids should be making out in school, I understand giving your friend/boyfriend/girlfriend a hug and a kiss. It shouldn't matter if you're dating or not, and it's none of their business.
One of my friends in high school got in trouble for hugging her boyfriend- the administrator said they should "shake hands" instead. It was so ridiculous- they were not doing anything inappropriate, just a hug! No wandering hands or anything.
The school was wrong and they did invade her privacy- I am sure they would not have done the same if she had kissed a male student in the same way.

4. It's a private school, they should be able to expel who they want
But they also shouldn't receive government funds, and that's where Republicans start to crack up. Have your nutty school that expels gays, blondes, or whoever, but don't expect my tax payments to support it.
