NJ Senate Appointment Gets High Marks On Gay Issues
http://www.365gay.com/Newscon05/12/120905menendez.htm

New Jersey Gov.-elect Jon Corzine on Friday appointed Democratic Rep. Robert Menendez to serve out the remaining year in Corzine's Senate term.

Menendez has a strong record of fairness on LGBT issues, according to the Human Rights Campaign's congressional scorecard. He received a congressional career rating of 91 percent on the HRC scorecard, "siding with equality and fairness 43 out of 47 scored votes, co-sponsorships and pledges."

"Rep. Menendez will be an advocate for fairness in the Senate," said Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese. "We congratulate him on his appointment and look forward to working with him as a U.S. Senator."

1. he's also a wonderful public speaker - I heard him last year during the
convention and he was rousing...Only the third Hispanic Senator. Amazing...Sometimes my own ignorance astounds me!So, I'm happy all the way round on his appointment. He's going to be good for all of us, IMHO.

2. This is depressing.
When you're from CO, and the issue is not whether they'll pass a constitutional amendment against gay marriage, but whether it will extend to civil unions and any other recognition of gay relationships. They just can't decide.

3. What infuriates me
is the vague wording in some of these amendments that have ALREADY been passed by voters. How in the world can these amendments deal with more than one issue like this? To say that civil unions are banned or any relationship approximating marriage is ridiculous. These things are just lawsuits waiting to happen, clearly violations of the equal protection clause.
