Idea for GLBT forum posters
As much as we've been talkinig about "Brokeback Mountain" lately, I think it's safe to say we're a prety informed bunch when it comes to the arts. So here's my idea ...

Some forums have online bookclubs to talk about whatever books they've selected to read and discuss that month. What if we had a similar online group to discuss LGBT-themed films?

There are lots of LGBT-themed movies out there, but many of them are indies that don't play the local suburban multiplex ... so it's easy to miss them when they are released. I'm willing to bet that we could all list a half dozen movie or so that didn't receive wide release, but that we could recommend to others and then were could pull up a cyber easy chair and discuss them on line.

What's everybody think?

1. I'd like that, kweerwolf!
And even though I post in the Fiction forum at DU, I wouldn't mind posting about Fiction/Non-fiction GLBT books or GLBT authors here in this forum for discussion.

2. Thanks, Lex
I like the idea of an LGBT bookclub, too. It's not often I get to do a lot of readiing, but occassionally I find a title I really enjoy.

Hey, maybe we could just make it an "LGBT Arts forum" and include books and movies!

3. I think it's a great idea

Over the decades, there have been some great GLBT films. Like you said, the overwhelming majority of them have been indie/arthouse films. You may not be able to see them at that suburban multiplex...but you can rent them from the local video store.

I think an online GLBT films forum is a great idea. I'm in.

And including HLBT books would be great, also. Sort of an online GLBT media forum?

4. Just started....
...and really enjoying "Comfort & Joy" by Jim Grimsley. Our book club group will be discussing it later this month.
