Noted U.S. Psychologists Condemn Gay Activist Influence on APA
LOS ANGELES, United States, December 20, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Senior members of the psychological community delivered a scathing condemnation of the American Psychological Association (APA), at the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH) conference last month.

Dr. Nicolas Cummings, Ph.D, a former president of the APA, said pro-homosexual social activist influence has undermined the scientific legitimacy of psychological research within the organization.

Dr. Cummings charged that research by the APA is now limited to projects where “they know what the outcome is going to be…only research with predictably favorable outcomes is permissible.” (reported by Linda Ames Nicolosi for the NARTH website).

Cummings expressed his concern over the APA’s backing for legalized gay marriage, which was recommended by the APA in 2004 because it would “promote mental health,” among members of the gay community. That decision, said Cummings, was based upon vague research which indicated “loving relationships are healthy’’ in a general sense.

(Translation: Having failed to promote their own pseudo-science, NARTH decides it's just easier to attack your opponents and accuse them of sinister conspiracies and claim there is a "pro-homosexual social activist influence" within the APA.)

2. Just the name NARTH sends chills up my spine . . .
I'm sure they learned their basic techniques in the Soviet gulags, treating other psychological disorders like speaking out against the government.

5. LOL! ... I cringed when I saw him described as 'noted'
The only difference between Cummings and folks like Paul Cameron and Joseph Nicalosi is that Cummings isn't as generally well known as a crackpot. So many people are getting wise to Cameron's and Nicolosi's shoddy "research" that the anti-gay psychologists' faction (a very tiny fraction) is forced to fall back on lesser known luminaries in the field.

4. dear Doctor Cummings:
What about mental health in terms of allowing an individual man or woman to become the pilot of his or her own life's course, his or her own sexuality, his or her own expression of love, his or her own individuation?

Individuation seems to be the one thing that George W. Bush has not achieved in his life. He, a heterosexual man; and what a tragic human being he has resulted to be for the entire planet, the world, and the united states, as well as for the state of texas.

It seems that his self is compressed (sandwiched in) between what his mother and father expect him to be, and his own long lost somewhere self.

It also seems that somehow you are playing a mommy, or poppy bush role to countless men and women when you stand up to dictate your values to the many countless men and women who have differing values from your own, and a differing concept of their own sexuality.

Perhaps you ought to place yourself under therapy with a wise therapist.

Perhpas you ought to find out what your aversion or repulsion to homosexuality is and whether it is connected to any homesexual feelings of your very own that you may be hiding in the Jungian shadow of your self.

Grow up and individuate. Become a self and in doing that, let others be themselves.

6. How ironic. . .I thought it was the christo-fascists who claim
that marriage promotes mental and physical health.

Ohhh...such a blistering attack on the APA from a group of christo-fascists well-known for their devotion to junk science guided along by their fervent hate of others and endorsed by God.

Does anyone ever wonder if those who complain so bitterly about conspiracies think that way because they are part of one themselves?
