Priest's book addresses sexual orientation
http://www.dailymail.com/news/News/2005122225/

The Rev. Paul Bresnahan hopes his new book will spark conversation about a sensitive topic and make people think about God's unconditional love.

Bresnahan, who has watched the controversy over gays in the church escalate, felt compelled to write "Everything You Need to Know About Sex in Order to Get to Heaven."

"As I was writing, I felt it was coming from God through me," he said. "I don't mean to say that what I say is the exclusive truth of God but it is a conversation that needs to happen."

Bresnahan, the priest at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in St. Albans, is an outspoken advocate for the homeless and is known for welcoming everyone into his flock from teens and the elderly to the unwed mother and the divorced. God's love is inclusive, he said.

4. Heaven and Hell
Heavens no. What I'm suggesting in my book is that there's a special place in God's heart for all of us, whatever the ethnicity, race, class, gender or orientation. Sure I'm a priest...but I'm an Episcopal priest...we've got a gay bishop finally in New Hampshire...and sure there's plenty of fuss going on about that...but there are a good many of us who stand in solidarity with LGBT folk as well as all other kinds of marginalized folks.
Hope you check out the book a little more in depth and give me a chance...Xlibris.com...under my name Paul Bresnahan...check it out.
Peace.

3. What God says to me....
....is my business, and God's. I AM willing to bet that God's wisdom and judgment is greater than man's understanding, and willing to bet that God doesn't need to be confined by man's fears and prejudices. I am willing to bet that God knew what he was doing when he made me gay, and knew what he was doing when he gradually led me from a closed-minded, self-centered, fearful life of being in the closet into a life where I can accept myself for who I was made to be, and being comfortable with myself I am now able to look around and consider the welfare of others, and offer help where I am able. If God has a problem with that, I trust that he will let me know about it someday, but until he does, I will continue following where I feel Him leading.

5. Right you are
Sure I'm a priest...but an Episcopal priest. We've got the first gay bishop in Christianity. (in New Hampshire) I was bought up by a gay uncle after my dad died at Christmas when I was only 7. I have two gay sons and consider myself a blessed. My new book is a labor of love that I wanted to share with anybody who wants to see how one priest can proclaim the gospel of God's unfathomable love for everyone...period! Peace on Earth and Good will to ALL!
I think you've got a great command of the Gospel. I hope that someday the church and this culture will grow up and realize how much God's love extends.
Blessings to you...hope you might want to check out the book sometime. (Xlibris.com)
Fr. Paul
