Supporters Of Gay Marriage Ban Say They're Being Threatened
http://www.365gay.com/Newscon05/12/122705massNames.htm

A conservative group that collected names for an initiative to ban same-sex marriage in Massachusetts claims people who signed the petitions are being threatened by gay activists.

A Web site run by a gay couple lists all 123,356 names of those who signed the petition, including their home addresses.

Vote On Marriage, an umbrella organization made up of the Catholic Church and conservative Protestant groups, charges the Web site is a form of intimidation. It claims a number of people already have been threatened by gays after their names were made public.

The site, KnowThyNeighbor.org, was set up by Thomas Lang and Alexander Westerhoff. The couple says that the site gives gay people the tools they need to defend themselves

If I knew that my name might be made public, I would doubt that I would sign petitions--which I don't do any longer since I don't know if the people with them are getting paid or not

But on the other hand, someone might find their name on the list even if they didn't sign it.

And I'd like to know which of my neighbors want to deny me my civil rights.

1. If true, threats are no good. However,
you sign your name to a petition, that's a public expression of homophobic intent. People want to know who is calling for homophobic legislation.

2. if its legally a matter of public record - too bad for the signers.
how can being held accountable for your actions be a "threat"?

put up or shutup, put your money where your mouth is, stand up for your principles, bla bla bla

you signed it, you own it.

I would like to see similar sites here in CA for all these initiatives fostered by special interests
on both sides of the political spectrum.

even better would be a site listing the names of all the people who are paid to gather signatures.

3. Didn't the antigay marriage group in Maine do this?
What's good for the goose . . .

And I'd like to know what they consider a "threat". A confrontational phone call?

4. Cry babies
They have no problem threatening others but the minute someone exposes them for their crap they start crying about it. Whatever. Karma is a bitch sometimes.
