Kids Books About Gay Families Placed On Restricted List
http://www.365gay.com/Newscon06/03/031606okBooks.htm

Books for children about gay families will have to be removed from the kids' sections of public libraries under legislation passed Wednesday night by the Oklahoma House.

The bill allows the state to withhold funding from local libraries that don't restrict children's access to reading material with sexually explicit or gay themes.

During two hours of debate opponents of the measure called it censorship. Nevertheless the bill passed 60-to-33.

The author of the legislation Rep. Sally Kern (R-Oklahoma City) said that children need to be protected from sexually explicit material that "is turning young people into sex machines."

2. So books are turning kids into sex machines...
Edited on Thu Mar-16-06 02:49 PM by MadMaddie
These people reach new highs don't they....It's not like teenagers are going through physical changes or anything....

This is censorship...next they will want a list of the people that check out said books to see if they are criminals.....

Seriously can we split the country in two and let these hate filled...people destroy their part?

3. When I was 14
I wanted to be a sex machine and I had absolutely no access to explicit material and I had no idea what a sex machine was. God made me that way. But let "christians" mentally ruin their kids. Let them insist they pledge to be a virgin until married. So the kids engage in every kind of sex known to mankind except vaginal intercourse and then tell mommy and daddy that they are still virgins. I like your idea of giving them their own country.

4. Even girls at 14 or 15 are revved up...
Those pledges that they take to stay virgins has increased the STD rates to new highs in the country and even with those statistics the parents don't want to vaccinate the girls to prevent said STD's. They don't want their kids to learn about safe sex, prevention of pregancies, no abortions, and the list goes on....they want to have a disiesed, overpopulated and uneducated populace...

Seriously, I don't know if this country will ever be able to heal from this religious division...dividing into two countries would save every American some grief....

8. Nature has programmed humans to reproduce at a young age
so that their offspring would have a chance to reach adulthood before their parents died of old age. Modern medicine has increased our life spans to the point that we can reproduce well past the age of puberty and still raise our children, but our programming has stayed the same. The thought that society can make new rules about when people should become sexually active is ridiculous. You just can't make those natural impulses go away because you don't approve of them.

5. So no health education books allowed?
No books about menstruation or puberty? No books about STDs? No books about breast cancer or prostate cancer or testicular cancer?

These nutters are really hoping their kids die, aren't they.

6. What children need to be protected from is ignorance and
intolerance. Explaining to a child that there are other lifestyles besides the traditional, heterosexual family unit will not turn them into sex machines and is not necessarily sexually explicit material. As long as the material is age appropriate it should be available.

7. Why do "gay families" always get lumped with....
terminology like "sexually explicit". What in the name of Jesus Effing Christ does *one* have to do with the OTHER?

I'm not just directing this to the barbarian know-nothings in the Oklahoma House but also to those who ought to know better but never challenge the conflating of these two utterly separate and distinct issues?

No one I know wants their kids turned into "sex machines", whether or not that is actually happening. What does that have to do with 'gay families'?

9. A lot of uninformed people think that gays and lesbians have
nothing else on their minds but sex. Many of them think that gays are out to turn the whole world. It's the same sort of attitude that white supremacists had about black men always desiring white women and it's bred out of ignorance.

11. Sexually Explicit?
what the hell books are these guys reading?

I have read book like "Heather has two Mommies" and "Daddy's room mate" and they are no more explicit then curiouse george or Junie B.

Which is not at all. the Gay parents take thier kids ot school, feed them breakfast, tuck them in at night after reading a story... it takes a truly dellusional person to see any of this as potentially "turing young people into sex machines". I have yet to see any porn featuring "Hot Dishwashing and clothes folding" action. Has anyone else?

Gods, these people are morons.
