http://www.washblade.com/thelatest/thelatest.cfm?blog_id=7514Special Counsel Scott Bloch, who has said that federal employees are not protected from discrimination based on sexual orientation, is winning new support from a group of conservative leaders.
A letter sent to the president by conservative organizations asking that Special Counsel Scott Bloch be protected from harassment has drawn little reaction from the administration.
In a letter to President Bush, the Christian Coalition, Family Research Council and other groups called on Bush to protect Bloch from an ongoing investigation by the Office of Personnel Management inspector general.
Bloch's critics contend he was wrong to remove all references on the OSC website about sexual orientation discrimination, including information from a flier and a news release from 2003 about a sexual orientation discrimination case settled with the IRS. They say Bloch has turned back 20-year-old protections for gay workers despite White House claims that the policy has not been changed.
