Lesbian character on'Law and order' fired by puke DA
played by Fred Thompson( almost playing himself) Serena played by a ms Rohm was fired for not being cold blooded enough for a asst. DA. She was the bightest spot on theshow. I may switch to CSI NY.

1. I have been watching the show for some time, but when she
was fired, it was the first time I had ever heard that the character was a Lesbian.

Has that been a theme before, or did they just throw it in at the end? It was my impression that her sexual orientation was an afterthought, and a stupid one at that.

2. One of those women always wanted to kill some one.
She was worse than any man. I think that is what was wrong with the womens thing. women got as hard as men and the men did not get any better. I guess it is called getting what you asked for. To be equal to men.

3. I think they are setting up a new show
I watch that show all the time and it was the first I recall that her sexuality was brought up.

By the way did anyone catch the comment on ER about the new young doc by the transsexual. Suggested he is hiding something; are they going to make him gay in later episodes.

7. Equality doesn't mean women do everything like men. Why couldn't
it be the other way around? Couldn't equality mean that men do things the 'woman' way? I think the world could benefit if men started doing some things more like women. But you're right; i definitely do not want to see women adopting all the *worst* qualities of men, and just becoming men with boobs.

5. this is the first I heard her out herself, but
inuendos have been made in the recent past regarding defending the Gay POV and victims being trashed. I like Fred Thompson denying that she was fired for being lesbian."Oh of course not" ( I'd put you in a gas chamber, but I wouldn't fire you for being gay.)

6. She was fired, it was kind of harsh, so they needed a little comic relief.

It's better than ending a beloved character like that without letting her get the last word.

I laughed out loud, right away.

I think it also pokes fun at the need for other Crime shows to dwell on character's sex lives, of which there is almost none in the (original) L&O, other than a plot device to explain why a character might be leaving -- for the most part. I don't think we knew anything about Serena's personal life, she was such a professional.
