1. I haven't found one that works for me.
But then again, I haven't found a straight one that works for me either. :P I'm just too damn esoteric.

3. Heh... yeah, I saw too many of the regular ones NOT to get annoyed and make fun of 'em.

4. I've never tried a dating site seriously enough to pay for a subscription
http://www.chemistry.com/ <-- supposed to be like eHarmony, only queer-friendly

these two I check weekly-ish to see if I have any new matches/mail:
http://personals.actforlove.org/
http://www.gk2gk.com/

an aside: I've heard a number of arguments in favor of eHarmony and how it matches based on personalities, and how the theory is that gays and straights look for different things in people they are attracted and that's why people looking for same-sex couplings are not accepted and all that...

but how complete can the "personality profile" be if it doesn't include or even consider Kinsey's sexuality scale?!

6. The eHarmony argument reminds me of a saying
"Any port in a storm."

The Big Gay Sketch Show did a great parody of eHarmony on their 2nd season.

Look for different things, my ass.

7. what really pisses me off about it
I waived off the argument for the first few years of eHarmony's popularity as typical stupidity from people who are unexposed to people who are open... it's not like I've never made any idiotic assumptions about people or groups I haven't have a chance to interact with.

but if it were just stupidity, they would have done that study they say needs done by this point.

at this point it's just bigoted and everyday that passes pisses me off more and more.

but what the hell are you going to do; I'll spend my money on another sucky singles website based on the same old Jungian psychology theories that do not give me matches within 2500 miles.

8. Met my partner on gay.com - we chatted for almost 2 years before
finally going out - that was a little over 9 years ago.

I know, seems like all that is there are the hookups and guys proclaiming they are looking for X, Y & Z when they really are looking for A,B or C - if you read everyone's profile, they're all looking for the same thing but none of them can find it.

But it really is a way to find other local, compatible types (needle & haystack method to be sure)
And yes, was in the Raleigh room that we met. Good luck

9. I didn't have any luck finding a boyfriend online
but I got a couple of dates on gay.com, and their chat feature works well. I tried a couple of gay-friendly hetero sites and had no luck.

11. I met one person on myspace... but she wasn't looking for 'relationship', just hookup.
Cool girl, we got along pretty well. But I'm just not one for casual sex.

But like I said, she was pretty cool. Just not looking for the same thing I was. :)

13. I don't know about "best" . . .
. . . but have you looked at Tangowire? Go to tangowire.com and click on 'alternative.' You have to create a screen name and password to stay connected for very long. Everything works including photos, but they've taken away profiles unless you upgrade. Seriously, check it out. It's not bad.
