Oregon Supreme Court Likely To Decide Gay Marriage Ban
http://365gay.com/Newscon08/05/052208ore.htm

(Salem, Oregon) The legality of Oregon's constitutional amendment restricting marriage to opposite-sex couples is expected to be decided by the state Supreme Court after an appeals court ruled that the amendment was valid.

The Court of Appeals on Wednesday upheld a lower court ruling that found the amendment which was approved by voters in 2004 did not violate Oregon's law restricting ballot measures to one issue.

Basic Rights Oregon maintained that the question on the ballot violated state law by being so broad it affected a host of other rights.

"We believe that Constitutional Amendment 36 fundamentally altered the promise of equal protection under the law for all Oregonians," Basic Rights Oregon Executive Director Jeana Frazzini said, following Wednesday's ruling.
