Heavy Periods Subdued with Turmeric Flavonoid Complex
I need to do a re-run of this experiment to see if it was a MIRACLE or just a very strong coincidence. On my heaviest periods I usually have to have run to the restroom every half hour, to put it nicely, and that would go on for at least two and a half days before it got a LITTLE better.

This month I was through my first day and in the morning of my second, picked up this stuff to try and downed a couple pills together (they were big yellow horse pills) and within a couple hours I noticed a dramatic change, in fact, I had a breather of TWO HOURS between restroom breaks instead of the usual half hour BY EARLY THAT SAME AFTERNOON.

Wow. This is one of the worst health problems I have and if it was this simple to 'normalize' my periods, well I have got to pass the word, because Ladies, you KNOW how I FEEL!

Alot of you do, anyway.

I was looking online for some correlation between my condition and the turumeric and could find nothing. Perhaps the combination of substances, as they are turmeric, bioflavinoids, ginger and vitamin C all in one tablet.

Anyways, I will remember to post again when I confirm this experiment works again next month (or, of course, if it doesn't! But I plan to continue to take these for other reasons as well so by next month I'll have it more 'set-up' in my system already, if there is such a thing.)

Thank you GOD, Thank you GOD, Thank you GOD!!!!!

8. I didn't know to take the turmeric for this in particular --
Edited on Mon May-26-08 12:33 AM by astral
I had ordered a bunch of stuff online to help with my big (REALLY BIG) fibroids as well as to work on my problem with my skin and eyes due to mold exposure. Turmeric was one of the things I had ordered for both its anti-inflammatory and its cleansing properties, and I just bought all this extra turmeric while waiting for my order to some in because I found it on sale at my local health food store, and knew I was going to be using it for a long time to come.

I went to the health food store to get a jump-start on some kind of CINNAMON supplement because I had read for the first time that THIS was a good treatment for heavy periods. (I didn't buy the cinnamon though b/c I didn't like what they had.)

So I had no idea that the turmeric would have this effect on me too, but this is my experience with it.

To WildClarySage -- as for seeing a doctor first, I'd been dutifully doing the rounds of doctors this year and was told to get a hysterectomy and not given any offers of trying anything to lesson my periods after asking for advice just on that part of the problem. I was afraid to do the hysterectomy so I did not follow up with that.

There's more than one health topic I am dealing with here at the same time but just thought I'd post about the turmeric - heavy period connection here so we can all explore it further, as I was (still am) pretty excited about it.

9. I hope you get it all resolved soon.
Fibroids and bad periods must be awful.

2. I've been dosing my hummus w/ lots of tumeric.
I know tumeric is an anti-cancer food, but I also love the taste. I eat a lot of hummus.

I had not thought about it.... My last 3 months have been VERY easy. Generally I'm in the same boat you described...1 1/2 hrs at most.

I'm going to spend some time looking into that.

4. I gave this a rec.
I have been scheduling my life around my cycle for the better part of the last five years. I'm down for three days. I've missed a lot of life, imo.

I'm going out tomorrow to get this, I'll run it past my MD... (coolest euro-doc ever; when I met him, I walked into his office and he was eating his parsley plant). He'll give me the go ahead, I'm sure.

I bookmarked this thread, and you do your re-run and I'll go a first round. I'll let ya know how things work out.

You are thanking God, and I am thanking you!!!....

I can only imagine how relieved you are, and as for me, I'm completely psyched. Fingers crossed for success!!

5. Congratulations....
....I had mine surgically removed (fibroids) so I know the every half-hour thing (more like every time I stood up).

I never heard of using tumeric - I tried an enzyme concoction and they helped for a while, but it just go too large to deal with.

7. Be sure you see your doc before you start treating these symptoms
as they may indicate serious problems that aren't treated by just addressing the symptoms.

10. Okay, here's my update
I can say it is still a dramatic help this time around, but it was not quite as dramatic as the first time. I kept taking the turmeric 'horsepills' twice a day every day no matter what, maybe missed only a time or two. This month I had three days where I would not want to take any unneeded walks, still, and the worst of it 1/2 hour bathroom runs (sorry, that is my best 'scientific' measurement of the phenomenon!) and of the three days, the third day it was borderline whether could have walked (like, an hour 'WALK-WALK') and I chose not to. It definitely shortens the whole experience, shortens the heavy days, and makes the heaviest times of the heaviest days noticeably more manageable.

That's the best I can say, which I think is pretty good. In all honesty, a little less dramatic than I had hoped, but STILL pretty dramatic.

I put it all down to those particular pills, of course, because at the time of the first time they were the only pills I had starte taking by then.
