Heart attack risk with pain drugs
People taking high daily doses of two common painkillers are at increased risk of heart attack and stroke, say Oxford researchers.
But the British Medical Journal study says the risk is moderate, with only an extra three people in every thousand suffering from an adverse reaction.

Long term use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen and diclofenac have raised fears before. They are standard drugs for those with chronic pain, like arthritis sufferers.

Concern had focused on the newer COX-2 drugs, but there are now also fears over NSAIDs. The doses given for chronic pain conditions are much higher than those used by people taking the drugs as occasional painkillers.

1. Chronic pain causes stress & limits one's life. Hmmm, tough choice
But Big Pharma needs to be held accountable for risky drugs, and they need to INFORM more effectively so people can make informed choices.

2. The safest drugs for treatment of chronic pain are OPIATES
and everybody who knows anything about pharmacology knows this. The problem is that we have a stupid drug war going on, which has turned into a war against chronic pain sufferers, thanks to a nanny state agency run amok.

The DEA needs to BUTT OUT of medicine altogether. Period. Even if suburban parents keep the stupid war on drugs popular, they need to do this. People in pain are not the problem and are generally not addicts, although they may become dependent after a very long time on around the clock medication.

The DEA has no place dictating medical treatment, none whatsoever.
