New iMac 27" seems VERY hot.
Setting up a new computer for my 96-year-old father-in-law. He wanted the huge screen because he needs to have things super-big and bright to see well. He's very happy with it on first impression. But...

After a couple of hours of use, the computer is extremely hot. Much hotter than any of the many various Mac's I've used over the years. So hot that I find it hard to believe it's supposed to be this way. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

1. My newer iMAC 21" seems to get hot at times...
I've had it for 9 months and no heat related problems. I have always kept my
computers in line with open air, a fan or near a window, though.

Tikki
p.s. doesn't seem like it is hot all the time..

2. Brand new? Contact Apple and talk to them about it. Document the contact.

3. Demands on the system can heat up a computer.
Check Activity Monitor in Utilities to see if there is a process putting extra demands on the system.
