I need a christmas sugar cookie recipe
Edited on Wed Dec-01-04 02:31 PM by Beaverhausen
My kind of-sort of honey informed me he likes the christmas cookies made in shapes (trees, wreaths)and decorated with icing. I usually make things like chocolate chip and pecan bars...

who has a fabulous recipe?

thanks!

edit- maybe it's not sugar cookies I want...maybe it's butter cookies.

4. Soft Rolled Sugar Cookies
This is a "handed down' recipe for the best sugar cookies I have ever had, especially if you prefer soft cookies over crunchy cookies.

Mix together:
2 c. sugar
1 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
3 eggs
In another bowl, mix together:
5 1/2 c. flour (may need a little more)
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
Mix together separately:
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. lemon extract
1 c. sour milk (I make sour milk with plain milk and a little lemon juice)

Add milk mixture alternately with flour mixture to butter mixture and mix until blended. Refrigerate several hours or overnight.
Roll out and cut into shapes.
Bake on lightly greased cookie sheet for 10-15 minutes in 350 degree oven.
NOTE: You can alter the butter/shortening if you want, i.e. add all butter or all shortening, as long as there is 1 and 1/2 cups total. I usually have to add more than the 5 1/2 cups of flour or the dough is too sticky.
