"Melts" - assembly does count.
I like patty melts, tuna melts, grilled cheese - anything with melted cheese, I guess.

Made a left over roasted chicken breast melt today, on rye with store bought roasted red peppers and sharp cheddar. Instead of just a basic 1-2-3 layer, I sliced all thin and alternated before a quick run under the grill. Much better blend (though I was looking for a quick hot sandwich) and worth the extra couple of steps.

Sometimes it's the small things that make a difference.

1. I like several thin layers rather than the traditional stack.
You're right, everything blends together better.

2. I like to intermix flavors, textures, and temperatures
for instance, put (cold) potato chips on it, or alfalfa sprouts, or warm toast on a cold sandwich. Not saying all these apply to what you're doing here, but it really adds a new dimension to stuff.
