What am I missing?

I'm trying to burn netscape 7.2 from my PC & install it to my laptop. The laptop came with netscape 8 & I don't like it. I can't just go online & download 7.2 since it's not offered anymore.

I burned a copy & when I tried to install it on the laptop, a screen comes up & says there's no internet connection. Well, I didn't think I needed an internet connection since I have the whole program.

Does it make a difference that my PC uses Microsoft 2000 & the laptop uses XP? Is that the problem?

I also tried to burn a copy of AVG, Ad-aware, spybot & spyware blaster. I was able to download the programs on the laptop, but not all the updates.

Is there something basic I'm missing?

Odds are you don't actually have a full install program and it is looking for a connection to finish the install.
You can only get updates for your spyware/av software from online though with most of the software you can update from a library file.
