Little cat who could sure use a wonderful home for 2006!
<>

SAM...is a handsome GRAY TABBY MAINE COON. He is around 3 years old, neutered and 4 paw de-clawed. He has a gorgeous, deep, full coat and bright gold eyes and is a BIG boy at 13 pounds. Sam is an extremely sweet boy with a purr as big as the outdoors. He is listed as Special Needs because he has been severely abused and needs a very specific home where he can heal and thrive. Sam was brought to a shelter in Illinois by a man who told staff that he was going to shoot Sam in the head if they didn't take him immediately. Of course he was taken in but it was evident he had been kicked and was badly bruised around his hind legs. Sam is scared and timid and is sure he's going to be hurt again by any new person. He has been thoroughly vet checked, including x-rays, and is a healthy boy with no broken bones, but the bruises to his body and spirit are going to need quite a bit of time to heal. Once he feels a bit of trust he is talkative, very affectionate and timidly asks to sit on your lap for more loving. We are looking for someone familiar with timid/abused cats who would be very patient, quiet and kind. Sam is fine with other cats, though we don't want him in a home with loud dogs or small children. This is an absolute heart-breaker of a little cat who could sure use a wonderful home for 2006!

Sam is currently available for adoption from Specialty Purebred Cat Rescue, a 501c3 NON-PROFIT organization located in the southeastern Wisconsin/Northern Illinois areas. For more information and an adoption application click on this link.

9. I've got all of them yet.
Little Ping had a short trial visit with the neighbor and her 3 resident cats a week ago.
The visit lasted only about an hour and I brought her back home with me.
Our first visit didn't go well, little Ping was repeatedly charged by the resident 2 year old cat.
I didn't like how aggressive the one cat was acting toward her, it was more than just hissing at Ping that was bad, it was more serious snarling and spitting. As of today I don't have any other other prospective home for her or her brother. All 3 kittens and Momma Mouse will have a appointment at the spay/neuter clinic in about a week. Mouse has had a lingering UTI for the last 3 weeks and I'm wanting for that infection to be cleared up before going to the clinic with them all.

10. How are they with dogs?
I don't know if I could even do this (may take some serious work on the husband to agree to this) but I may be able to help. However, my 12 year old lab comes first and I can't take a cat that doesn't like dogs. I am however, missing the feline presence in my home. Let me know - maybe we can help each other.

11. Thanks for getting back to us about Ping -
I am glad to hear that you kept Ping instead of letting her go into the home with the hissing, snarling cat - she is such a sweet baby.

Feel free to post more pics - you take gorgeous, expressive photos! :)

5. I'd love to have another MC
But my house is pretty full right now. Has this been posted in the lounge, and is he on Petfinder? Our rescues MC and Maine Coon mixes don't last for long when posted on Petfinder-I highly recommend it.

Right now this big boy is keeping my hands full!

7. Please go to YahooGroups.com.
Register and then search for Maine Coon rescues in your area. You can then post to the message boards. I have found homes for 3 cats through rescue groups in my area that were listed at YahooGroups.com.

8. Some people
are just no damn good! I think this further justifies making de clawing a cat an illegal act. This cat would have been able to defend himself against the ignorant, malevolent, violent son-of-a bitch otherwise. :grr:

I hope he finds a good home. I'm already over populated as it is from taking in a lovely but abandoned (and perhaps abused) de clawed cat.

13. I wish and pray for this cat
that some day he will have the contented loving and happy look of Lorien's Oberion, who looks enough like him to be a brother.
