1. I'm glad it flew away!
I hated to see my kitty catch anything, but I knew it was purely instinct, so I tried never to act upset with her. we had an enclosed patio and she didn't realize she could climb it, so she'd just sit out there and sun herself. One day I found her hanging from the top of the fence, about 5 feet high, by her claws, spitting out tail feathers! She strutted around like a lioness for the rest of the day!LOL! She was soooo proud of her hunting abilities! I was glad the bird got away though!

2. My little orange kitty caught his first this past summer
Edited on Wed Mar-08-06 02:15 PM by MaggieSwanson
in the house! We were putting in an air conditioner, and a sparrow flew in. Damien was all over it in a heartbeat and ran around the house with the bird in his mouth, talking the whole time through the feathers. He was very proud of himself.

My daughter chased him down and got him to let go of the bird (who promptly flew down to the basement). After half an hour or so of shutting both cats in bedrooms and opening doors, the bird flew away.

Damien alternated between strutting and pouting for the rest of the day, naughty boy.

3. Having had two orange tabbies
I must tell you I think they are wonderful hunters. My Lucifer could call blue jays out of the trees! We had to watch him when we realized what he would do. It was eerie.

My Charley survived at least 6 months before I found him in the wild from what he could hunt or get in the garbage. He was declawed!

4. My orange tabby is just pretty
I have an orange tabby who is rather talentless in the hunting arena. He has never caught anything. His big brother, a brown tabby, catches voles, mice, young rats, etc. and lets the orange tabby play with his catch.
