Need some guesses on the breed mix of this pooch
I'm working with this rural shelter to place this sweet pooch in the DC area:

http://www.petfinder.com/photoView/photoView.cgi?petid=10011240

And have no idea what breed mix she might be, other than terrier. She weighs 25 lbs, is 2 yrs old, and not hyper. She has one ear that stands up and another that flops over.

Any ideas?

12. I would put money on it that your guy is purebred.
The thing with Cattle Dogs is a lot of people think they're mixed breeds because they're so unusual looking. But they're supposed to look that way.

Check out www.cattledog.com. There are tons of pics there of purebred ACDs.

We have two and they are awesome dogs. Not the gentlest dogs in the world but very loving. My twelve year old damn near gave me a black eye tonight trying to lick my face. They are very enthusiastic about everything.

10. Wonder if it could be cross between blue merle
australian cattle dog and blue merle border collie? Look at these pics:

http://www.gis.net/~shepdog/BC_Museum/Permanent/BC_ColorBlueMerle.html

It looks like an older dog, and also looks depressed. What's the story on it?

2. Australian cattle dog and Cairn terrier mix.
That's my guess. I take it that her coat is kind of rough and wiry?

3. Not sure on the coat
Someone else thought Eskimo dog/Border collie mix.

But her energy level is lower that what I'd expect from that mix.

4. I agree with yellerpup
Looks like a blue merle Australian Cattle Dog mix.

Here is Murphy (also adopted from a shelter). He is an Australian Cattle Dog mix. He weighs 50 lbs. which is on the high side for ACDs.

9. Murphy is a cool looking dog
My cattle dogs are both over 50 pounds. We call Tillie "Baby Huey" 'cause she's built like a canine version of a tank. But both are very smart.

Here's Tillie and me trying to herd sheep.

She's done this a few times so this last time she was actually pretty good. The times before she just terrorized the poor animals.

And here's my old boy Petey. He's twelve.

He has no interest in herding. He's a lover not a heeler...

14. Hey! Good to see you auburngrad82
:hi: Petey looks like a lover :-). Murphy would lick me to death if I let him.

Tillie looks very smart - does she have that cattle dog stare? I love watching them work, but never had the chance to get Murphy involved in anything. He needs a job.

7. Definitely a Cattle Dog mix
The face, double mask and legs are dead giveaways.

The other breed is iffy but from the full body pic of her up against the wall my first impression was Australian Shepherd. Just the body, coat and the fact that she doesn't appear to have a tail. But 25 pounds is smallish for both breeds.

Unfortunately you can have more than two breeds in a mixed breed so it's really difficult to tell. I'll bet she's pretty damned smart.
