Black snakes, crows, hawk

I'm simply sharing...because I enjoy messages from the Animal Kingdom, even if I don't yet know what the message IS. ;)

Hawk is my life totem, as I've written about before. About a year ago now (?), I went through a brief spell of seeing only white animals -- I even saw a white crow, a white deer...it was beyond magickal.

Suddenly everything catching my attention is black. And this is prevalent in my dream and awake states, which is interesting.

Black cats, crows, black snakes.

I'm usually terrified of snakes, and now that it's getting warmer, they are stirring. Two weeks ago there was an incident in my backyard in which Mark saw a black snake in the backyard and came running to tell me (LOL). I just observed (albeit without glasses) and said, "If it climbs that tree, we know it's a racer and is not poisonous." Sure enough, it climbed the tree, but was going after bird eggs, so I asked Mark to gently get the snake off the tree and moving onward. Well, hilarity ensued from that point forward. The snake was NOT going to let Mark get the best of him/her. Mark was running around the back yard...omg...it was hilarious!!! The rather huge snake eventually did move into the neighbor's yard (no doubt still in the neighborhood...lying in wait for Mark...lol), but I was relieved to have not been terrified about the incident.

Two days ago as I was driving, I saw a similar huge black snake coiled in the middle of a road (actually, in the median, not at great risk of being run over).

Yesterday, in a very different location, I saw another huge black snake in the middle of a CRAZY busy highway...I was stunned to even see a snake there....it was in the middle, but it was dead. :(

And the black snakes are in my dreams...I'm not terrified but I can't say I'm overly comfortable either.

The crow messages are all around. OH, and the thing that REALLY got my attention is that, right after seeing the dead snake, after getting off the highway and onto a more country road, I saw two crows attacking a hawk. The hawk SWOOPED down in front of me as the crow attacked. Huge hawk. I'm certainly more drawn toward, and resonate with, the hawk, so I felt bad for the hawk being attacked, though no doubt the crows were defending their babies or something. That was disconcerting to me to have two prevalent totems fighting right in front of me.

Black kitties are all around (for many of us, it seems!); even my departed Rosie came back in a dream the other night.

Makes me wanna say, "hmmmmmmmmmm........"

1. Love the visual
of Mark and the snake. LOL But good for you/him, saving the eggs.

Funny thing, last night my dreams were full of black dogs and a black bunny. It was all good, though. I was snuggling the bunny. :)

But there is something I've been wanting to tell you for a while. Crows do not like hawks or eagles and will gang up on them to drive them away. I've seen it many times. It's just the way they are. :(

3. Hey you!

Yeah, I knew crows and hawks are enemies, but I never really tuned in to it until the crow came into my awareness recently. It's like my two current primary totems are fighting, and with the snake in the mix, that is the one I have always MOST feared.

There is indeed a message in there for me. My own internal struggles I'm battling with, perhaps?

;)

oooooh, snuggling with a bunny. Now THAT gives me warm fuzzies! :)

2. that's a fun story. i wonder what it means?
i've been having strange dreams myself about animals lately, but it's kinda different. i dreamt about a horse with cancer and that i am gleefully torturing it (this would be out of character for me, by the way, even though i'm not a big fan of horses). there was lots of stomping and beating and disemboweling. after a while i became lucid of this dream and decided, as pleased as my psyche was, this was rather unhealthy and chose to wake up. typing it up in dream interpretation search engines really didn't help me. the best i could make out was "work (horse) was sick (cancer) and i wanted to destroy (torture) it". considering i'm still in school and not employed, it's an interpretation that made little sense to me. oh well, it'll likely make sense eventually...

only other thing has been lots of small animal roadkill carcasses and half eaten limbless deer torsos, with broken, bloodied ribs jutting out. well, there's lots of cars around here, along with the occasional coyote and mountain lion, so it's not unheard of. but it's more than i usually see.

hmm, this was a pretty gross post. perhaps not everything needs to be shared...

oh, i like crows and snakes by the way. cool animals. i'd like to think it means good things to come. but i'm likely alone in this assessment. :P

4. LOL!

Wow...that's pretty intense. Hopefully (if you're wanting clarity) the message will make itself known. I got nothin' to offer in the way of interpretation.

;)

I've always liked crows, too; they don't bother me, I just never really connected. I think I took them for granted.

Hey....there's another element of the message for me. I typed out to hermetic above that the crow and hawk are my two primary current totems (hawk the life totem, and the crow involving my current path), and it's disconcerting that they're fighting.

There's a message there. And that I took crow for granted.

The snake is all about fear for me; it always has been, at least. Funny that you like snakes -- I always admire people who likes snakes, and I have a feeling you're far from alone in this group! Spiritual types tend to really love the snake, in my experience, and recognize the beauty and strength of the snake.

Not me...always scared the crap out of me. ;)

7. yeah, crows fighting hawk sounds like being forced to write w/ your off hand.
certain behaviors and skills we are really good at, but sometimes life asks us to "write left-handed," if you will. having a hawk essence but a crow path is definitely anticipating some tension in the future -- even if they have been currently good at avoiding each other's space. crows are cool in that they are one of the few mid-sized nesting birds that can put up enough concerted aggression to make a large raptor think twice. another weird one that does that is the hummingbird; they are known to challenge eagles in their territory. always wondered what mentally goes through an eagle's mind being harassed by a hummingbird...

crows are also one of 4 (or is it 5 now) animals known to science to make their own tools. it's a very exclusive club! they have been observed bending a straight wire into a hook to fish out meat from a PVC tube. they've also been seen using cars at stop signs to crack walnuts and other nuts for them. they wait with a nut in their beak by the stop sign, wait for a car to stop, then place the nut in front of the car's tires and hop back to safety to wait. this was seen first in northern Japan, but now i see neighborhood crows doing the same -- someone, somewhere has been using a phone tree to spread the word.
;)

by the way, i've always thought that my totem was the stuffed animal, with at most a snake, spider, or ghost nestled nearby. often it's just a stuffed animal; there's no aggression or wild potency. so when people ask what i think my totem is i just reply "Winnie the Pooh." honestly, who goes around attacking Pooh bears?

and to imagine a Pooh bear viciously mauling a sick horse sounds crrrrazy! :silly: what do i do? snuggle it's nose and smother it to death with hugs? :7

8. OMG, that's brilliant.....

Pooh Bear as your totem! (Did you ever read "The Tao of Pooh" by any chance? :))

Yes, I just learned more about the crow. I posted this in seeking more info:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=245x116524

I will sit with the message of the merging of hawk and crow paths....or the allowance of both paths...something like that. ;)

I just love the stuffed animal totem! :bounce:

Btw, I always wanted to create a line of small stuffed animals -- as environmentally friendly as possible, to benefit wildlife preservation/protection groups -- with little cards sharing the Native American totem information, of each animal's wisdom/medicine. I think I'm getting closer to making that dream a reality...Wildlife Wishables...thanks for confirming that, even if it doesn't seem as though you did...lol).

9. IIRC Audobon Society had a stuffed animal "beanie" series...
they'd make little stuffed animals that represent native songbirds as much as possible, while still being cute. the only thing they didn't have was NA totem/medicine info. there's a lot of NA groups who could use the income opportunity; might be a chance to talk to local reservations about a business idea...

aha! here's the stuffed animal link!

http://www.audubon.org/market/licensed/plushbirds.html

if i had the spare money, i'd get the cardinal, blue jay, and tufted titmouse, with their mohawk hairdos, to pose as punk rockers in a plushy tableau... there's probably a reason the universe doesn't bequeath me with more money than i need.

10. What a great idea....

to actually work with NA communities in this creation, to benefit their community directly.

I'd seen the little beanies offered before as well, but not with the native wisdom aspect. To me, that brings a completely different energy to the creation, and the message...a way to connect more directly with the animal kingdom for our personal and collective paths.

Excellent!

5. My grandmother used to say
Black cats bring luck with them, but if they ever decide to leave you they also leave with the luck.

Here's some luck

His name is Lewis. He's lounging in a flowerpot full of catnip.
