my hummers have returned!
I was just sitting down looking out my back window resting a few minutes from chores...when I Mr. Hummer came by, hovered outside the window, flashed his ruby throat (hot little guy) and then took off. I'm so relieved, I could cry...:) :) :)

Very nice older couple stopped by to get a glimpse of my place...no appointment, they just saw the sign. They have 2 retired horses they want to bring home...perfect. Wanted more land, but for privacy. Were happy to see that it's a great setup -- very private in the back, and enough pasture for 2 even with only 2.5 acres...also appreciated the estabished herb garden and other plantings :D Need to sell their place first, but hopefully will be able to do so...I liked them....

1. This is GOOD NEWS!!
About the hummers being back and especially the prospect of new caretakers of your land!!!! I have some new species of birds for the first time this year. Orioles, and meadow larks. I think they are here because I haven't been able to cut the grass in the fenced area of the back. My mower died, and since I no longer have Flurry to worry about getting ticks back there in the high grass, I've let it go au natural!!! The grass and wildflowers are over 3 ft. tall. Thank God no one can see it 'cause my yard faces the main Rd., but I have a 6 ft. privacy fence. So far I haven't seen any other critters, but maybe that's because they have a hiding place now???? In the past I've had raccoons, possums, and ground hogs. I'm afraid to walk out to my shed because the past few years I've had black snakes(racers) and we tend to "startle each other" (me one way them the other; direction that is!)
Two years ago I had eastern blue birds!! First time I'd seen them since I was a kid. they are making a comeback it seems! They nested in a tall cedar tree (piller type) on the outside of my fence near the road that year! No sign of them this year. It could be because of the weird weather!?
