Request for healing energy -- please!
Hi, all, I'd like to make a request for some healing energy. I developed "floaters" in my left eye and the opthamologist has referred me to a retina specialist because he said I have 2 "weak spots" on my retina. I am freaked out at the prospect of surgery and the possiblity of serious vision problems in the future. I also am a big baby when it comes to doctors, so any calming energy would be most welcome, too! My appt. is Wednesday a.m. at 8:30 central time, so y'all could shoot some healing energy my way, I'd appreciate it most greatly!! Thanks so much.

1. Okay you've got it. . .
First off I know it's scary but RELAX and BREATHE.

Opthalmic surgery has vastly improved over recent years. My mom had a floater and cataracts.

One day she was staring out her back window and said "The burn pile is on top of the rock garden." Ahhhhh in reality they are more than 50 feet apart. I said, "you can no longer drive until you get that fixed."

Her surgeries were painless and entirely successful as I pray yours will be.

2. Thank you for the encouragement
Yeah, I'm pretty freaked out by the possibility of surgery but at the same time grateful to be living in a time when they can do something about this.

Think I'll practice my meditative breathing techniques during the procedure...

3. I will definitely send you energy, Love Bug.
In fact, I've put a reminder on my calendar at work so that I also do this at 8:30am (your time) tomorrow.

5. Weird - I have a follow up appt. tomorrow
I have a vitreous detachment and I have to go to the ophthamologist tomorrow for a follow up exam. My appt. is at 8:15 mountain time.

I freaked out initially also, but did a bunch of research and it seems like these issues are very treatable if caught early (like so many other medical issues). So, don't worry and update us tomorrow if you get the chance.

6. Must be something in the air, eh? ;-)
Good energy to you, too!

Think I'm going to have to sit down and do some serious thinking/intuitive examination of any sixth chakra issues I may be ignoring/in denial. We'll see.

8. Hey, Love Bug. Healing and calming energy coming your way.
I had eye surgery last year for retinal detachment. The surgery was only 2 hrs. and there was very little pain except the night after surgery--I took one pain tablet. The only hard part was making myself lie on my side for two weeks following surgery. Other than that, it was very easy and my vision is normal except for being nearsighted. My best friend had two little spots where her retina was starting to pull away, and the opthalmologist tacked it back up with a laser in his office. She had seen a little sliver of light in her field of vision and the dr. said it was a good thing she came in promptly. Eye surgery is quite advanced and a lot less painful than in years past.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

9. Yes stay calm if you can.
Breathe and meditate.

This will help the surgery go smoother, and help the meds work better. Ask your angels to help you right now and tomorrow.

11. There's enough love, calm and healing surrounding you to
carry you through. It's all around you like a coocoon. All you have to do is get in touch with it. You may want to distract yourself with upbeat thoughts to calm yourself as an entry if you're having trouble getting direct access. Breathe normally and let the energy flow as it will. Holding causes your fears to concentrate and that causes pain. Your fears might not go away though they should be much more manageable. :donut: :donut:

12. Good news! No retinal detachment!
Just got back from the Opthamologist and there is good news! I have no retinal detachment and will need no treatment other than a follow-up visit in 3 weeks. The floaters should go away eventually and that will be the end of that. I was told this is more common when you are near-sighted because your eyeball is more elongated. Anyhow, thank you all so much for your thoughts/prayers/energy because it really made a difference. I was pretty nervous but once I hit the exam chair I calmed right down. I'm sure that was because of your healing efforts! Again, thanks so much!

Now, hopefully Gardengal will have good news, too!

15. Yes, I have good news too.
My eyes are fine. The only problem I have right now is waiting for the dilation to go away. Yuck, it's making me sort of nauseous. Glad I don't have to do that anymore!

17. Yeah, the dilation sucks
Edited on Wed Jun-28-06 08:22 PM by Love Bug
Had to get my sister to drive me home, where I spent the afternoon watching tv in a darkened livingroom (which is not so bad, after all). Dilation seems normal, now.

Great news, GardeningGal! We're 2 for 2!

18. Next time, ask for drops to undilate your eyes.
They rarely offer them, but will give them to you if you ask. I know, because I ask for them EVERY time, because, as you say, the dilation sucks.

20. Whoops! I shouldn't have missed this. Don't let them touch
those floaters. I have some major ones in my right eye due to cataract surgery that I had last year, but the doctors have advised that the surgery to remove them is too risky and could lead to vision loss. They have assured me that eventually they will break loose and disappear. In the meantime you have to live with them.

I find this very disconcerting myself especially since it is so difficult trying to do research on the internet and participating in the various forums of DU. What keeps me going is knowing that there is an end to this. I am not an ophthamologist but I beg you to get a second opinion before you submit to surgery.

21. Nope, no surgery necessary
Doc said they would be a nuisance, but will go away on their own. My concern was the flashes of light which the Opthalmologist said is caused by the floaters tugging on the retina. That will go away, too. Thanks for your advice, tho!

22. Happy that you are okay. Yes, they are a nuisance and you
still have to be alert to the symptoms of a retinal detachment.
