A new movie called "White Noise" shows the dead communicating through high frequency waves, and people with one San Antonio company say the voices from the dead are not a fabrication of Hollywood.

In the movie, the dead try communicating through household recording devices. The process is called Electronic Voice Phenomenon, or EVP.

Guillermo Fuentes, with San Antonio Paranormal Investigations, says he has captured the phenomenon.

Fuentes let News 4 WOAI hear some of the recordings.

“Are you a female?” Fuentes asked in an empty room. After the question, a voice is heard saying, “Yes.”

It is an interesting concept. The movie was not all that great, though! I was a little disappointed. However, I really think this phenomena is interesting and deserves more study.

I was really looking forward to seeing it but they glossed over paranormal and turned it into a horror/thriller flick that was both needlessly violent and anticlimactic.

I thought they opened up an opportunity to pursue the spiritual realm when MK went to see the medium and she told him he didn't know what he was playing with and could be in danger. Then they just dropped that whole plot line which was the most interesting one of all. I kept expecting him to return to her because she gave him more answers in three minutes than all the time he spent with the man with all the recording equipment. Go figure.

Eight bucks and two hours down the drain.

I had a feelin gthe movie was going that direction...bummer.

Michael Keaton mentioned "What the Bleep" on the Today show while presenting his latest movie White Noise to host Katie Couric. You can see the entire interview, even though The Bleep only comes up towards the end.

A few years ago the love of my life passed over. I bought a micro tape recorder and he spoke three words to me. I didn't pursue it after that.

but he is still around :)

time to time. Not as much as he was when he first passed. Every now and then he will do something electrically to say hi. ;)

How did you get him to speak to you? Did you prepare yourself in a special way? Did it take long? Sorry, for all the questions. If you don't wish to answer for personal reasons, I will certainly understand.

special preparation? Just made sure all was quiet, and I started to speak to him, asking him to talk to me. I would then put the microrecorder into record, and wait. Would then rewind and play. Within an hour he spoke to me.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I hope my questions did trivialize your loss, as that was not my intention. I lost my aunt almost a year ago, and sometimes she has come to me in dreams. I also had a medium communicate for her to me.

In the movie, they use static from a radio station. Did you do the same or just turn on the recorder?

I am sorry for your loss, but it sounds as if he is not far from you!

What kind of a tape recorder did you get? I have some unfinished business with the Astral World. Would like, more than anything, to contact someone on the other side.

If you could, please tell me what to do. A micro recorder?

more than once people have come back and had me listen to the tape...
birds chirping that weren't there...other voices, sounds....

it's like those of us with one foot in the spiritual world take these things, phenomena, matter of factly, while the foot in this world produces the shocks and surprises.

pretty amazing stuff you find.

In the case of the original EVP thread, I think a friend had emailed the web site to me and I posted it in the Meeting Room just after the Nov. election.
It kind of got lost in the wave of depression that swept over us after Kerry "lost", so I'm glad there is renewed interest in the topic so I can repost that thread now. It really is an interesting phenomenon.

I find a lot of stuff on Crystalinks and other web sites/news sources that collect interesting news stories.

Looking at the replies in that older thread on EVP in the Meeting Rm. makes me wonder what ever happened to "tcandle"? I don't recall seeing her here after we switched to this new Astrology room.

Thank you so much for your reference to the web site called "Atlantis Rising". I was very intrigued when you mentioned it up above.

It was easy to find on the web. I never did find the article about the voice transmission, but I certainly struck the Mother Lode with a huge amount of articles.

Click on 'Archives' at the very top, and voila. This kind of stuff is my favorite.

My friend writes the astrology column and I like the way she goes beyond straight astrology and adds archeoastrology & astronomy as well. (She also leads a tour to Egypt every year...some day I'm gonna actually make it! :) )
