What are you grateful for?
I've been reading "The Secret", and just finished the part about being grateful. So it made me think, what am I grateful for? Here is my list (only partial, but with the most important things on it). What are YOU grateful for?

*That I found my perfect partner.
*That I found DU, and this Forum.
*That my mom is in good health, after facing many health challenges over the past decade or so.
*That I have a daughter who is a wonderful young woman.
*That I have a soon-to-be son-in-law whom I love.
*That I got my car back.
*That I have siblings who are wonderful people.
*That my income in increasing.
*That I have made a decision as to what to do to resolve my debt.
*That through DU, I have met some incredible people.
*That I no longer live with a constant feeling of anger.
*That I have come to appreciate a lot of things about myself.

As I said, there are more, but these are the ones that came to mind right off the top of my head.

Would you share what you are grateful for?

1. Oh yeah--I AM grateful!
My stars, I am grateful for a lot!

Right off the bat I celebrate my family. My partner is an awesome man that I not only respect but enjoy. I still like hanging out with him and he still makes me laugh more than anyone else I know.

My kid is an absolute gift and not a day goes by that she does something that takes my breath away. She is kind and caring and has a finely developed sense of fairness along with good humor.

My parents are (and always have been!) supportive and caring. They are good people who do the best they can to live lightly on this earth and with everyone on it.

I am blessed with friends who love me in spite of my foibles and failures. (I am blessed with more than my fair share of good friends, too, come to think of it...) I am supremely grateful to have an online community like this one to support me as well.

I have been gifted with some moderate intelligence, passion, and the ability to see the little stuff that makes life sweeter. I have been given the twin gifts of joy and the ability to appreciate it (or recognize it!) when it is present.

I am healthy both physically and (mostly!) mentally.

I have "enough" to meet my needs and some of my desires--in spite of the fact that I have never really chased after money.

I live with a REALLY cool cat. He chose us and I love him for choosing to be with our family.

I have much to celebrate, and i know there is a lot more that needs to be on this list--this is just what comes to mind in a hurry!

Regards!

Laura

3. Great idea SG ..
I try to do gratitude every day.

I'm always grateful for my son and that he is doing what he loves and has a special woman to love him.

I'm grateful for a lot of 'small' things. I am grateful that I live where I do, both in the city and the house. I'm grateful for the kitchen table and chairs a friend gave me which makes my kitchen 100% brighter. Grateful for forgiveness. I also scored another really neat chair. I was seating challenged. I'm grateful that I have places for people to sit now. My kitty, who has a pink nose and little pink mouth. And is very sweet and adaptable. My roommate. For some strange reason, he likes me a lot, so oh so much better than living with someone who doesn't! I'll mention again, forgiveness, and the relationships it has allowed me to reclaim. Just because I learned forgiveness.

I always give thanks for the sun! Which has been glorious here the past couple of days, after the floods. New friends. Old friends. Friends who make cd's of inspirational things for me. Friends who pretty much get that I'm whatever and they are too and it's all cool. (I spent much of my life trying to fit someone's mold. Forget it.)

I'm grateful for hope. And for an assurance that we're gonna make it. Grateful for Joy. Abraham says that's why we are here, to experience Joy. .. the only thing that regression yielded in September was . joy .. more Joy. I don't know if that helps. It's the message I got.

I'm grateful that you started a gratitude thread. :D

4. i tend to be grateful in the moment
in this moment i am grateful for

the smells in the house from the bacon and onions i fried for tonight's lentil soup

the sun shining through my windows and how warm and bright the house is

my dear partner sitting next to me shouting at the football players on TV

my furbabies in piles surrounding my chair to the point it's a ballet to get up to stir the soup

DU and the fact I have my laptop set up next to my chair and have the income to be connected to the WWW

that i have chores today and have the freedom to blow them off until tomorrow

sobriety and the gifts it's brought and how it is so throughly engrained in my life (no gratitude list is ever complete for me with that one)

that tomorrow starts another year i am blessed to live, learn and laugh with love

Happy New Year to all of you blessed souls in AS&AH

5. Ok, here's the list:
What I am grateful to have/have experienced in 2006:

- i'm almost financially healthy, after alot of advice and patience
from a mortgage counselor, and hard work from myself

- pleasantly surprising development of my cooking skills

- this forum :)

- my 2 healthy, happy doggies: HippieDog Hank and Ray Charles

- spending a good portion of the summer with my amazing daughter, who
is well on her way to becoming an amazing and breathtaking young woman

- our roadtrip to King's Island amusement park with some friends
(it was the highlight of HippieKid's summer vacation)

- my new car, and having the ability to be able to get it on my own

- further deepening of a platonic friendship with Tim, a genuinely "nice guy"

- new friends that i've made thru DU, work, etc

- outings and time spent with "old" friends

- time spent & conversations with Mark, even if it ultimately turned to a
disaster between us

- messages from my mom, my first boyfriend, and Kef - from the other side

O8) Blessings to all !!!

6. Saturn retrograde.
Yeah, it took the wind out of my sails and made me nostalgic, but it also gave me the opportunity to review my life, learn new things about the past, and appreciate the positive parts of said past enough to want to say goodbye. Endings don't just happen, you have to make them. So, yay, Saturn retrograde, for um, motivating me?

7. I have so many things for which I feel gratitude.

  • The protection and gifts that the Universe provides to me every day of my life.
  • My wonderful husband.
  • This forum, which has been such an amazing gift from the Universe.
  • The many friends that I've made through this forum. It amazes me that I can feel so close to people that I've never met physically.
  • My friends who I can physically access. (I was going to say "my real-life friends", but you're all a very big part of my "real life" also.)
  • My family, which impresses me more each time I get a chance to be with them.
  • The financial abundance that I've been given.
  • My home, which is comfortable and which my husband and I own without a mortgage.
  • My manager, who is an amazing person that I truly respect.
  • My job, which is not perfect, but which rewards me many ways besides financially.
  • The hot water that comes out of my shower and the heat that warms my home. (I don't know why I always feel such gratitude for these things.)

....and many other things that aren't coming to mind at this very moment.

8. All-righty
I am grateful that 2006 is nearly over. (I am going through a divorce and it was a tough year, especially for my soon-to-be-ex, so I hope 2007 is better for him -- and that my divorce actually happens so I can move on.)

I am grateful that my brother is home safely from his second tour of duty in Iraq.

I am grateful for my mother. She has been there for me whenever I've needed her, and I for her.

I am grateful for my child. She makes me laugh everyday.

I am grateful for my two kitties -- they bring me great joy.

I am grateful for my computer skills and my creativity. Both have kept me employed and financially stable.

I am grateful for my friends. This year, they have leant me their ears, their shoulders and their advice.

I am grateful that my uncle has found hope, family and stability after years without.

I am grateful that Tuesday is my 38th birthday, but I don't yet feel my age.
