Welcome to February, Due to the unusual lack of planetary aspects this month, we can watch and sense clearly what Pluto is doing in its early days in the master sign of Capricorn. Much has been written on this subject, including last month’s newsletter. Please join me with Uniontown astrologer, Cheryl Crise, as we discuss this new major era on Carol Lee Espy’s KDKA radio show, “The Life Lounge”, Saturday, February 2nd at 9:30pm. Also, we face two important eclipses this month and, ugh, Mercury is retrograde until February 18. I hope you’re off to a good start with 2008 – Happy Valentines Day!
Pluto in Capricorn
As Pluto is now in Capricorn since January 25th, we find ourselves in a different era. Much has been written on the subject and much speculation is occurring. I’m already finding that this can be a very encouraging time. It will be serious, yes. Yet, it is stirring us from deep below. Stirring us to mean more. To do more. To become more. May this time be fruitful for all of you as it lasts the next 16 years. May we reinvent ourselves, and get this world of ours straightened out.
Will I? / Won't I?
It’s understandable, and very common that people walk in my office and start off their questions with, “Will I do this?”, or, “Will this happen?” It’s a consistent type of question because people don’t understand what astrology is and what it isn’t. First of all, I don’t blame anyone for not believing in the subject – it is so difficult to understand. Suffice it to say that in a way, I’m a weatherman. Metaphorically speaking, I can tell you when the wind is going to get stronger. It’s really up to you to put up your sail and learn to manage your own ship. I can help define why the wind is doing what it’s doing and when it will gust, when it will settle down, and which way it’s blowing. But it is “your wind,” and you need to use it properly. Too many 1-900-astrologers are making a killing with these types of questions and “guidance.” It’s sad to see many people looking to someone else to lead their life. Many of the answers to, “Will I”, and “Won’t I” are simply up to you & your own intention - thank goodness. Use astro-logy just like you would a weather report. If your ship capsized the last five times the wind gusted, what do you think will happen to you if I see a big storm coming?
An Amazing Story About Mars Retrograde
Mars has been traveling backwards since November 15th. Of course, it only appears to be traveling in reverse against the backdrop of stars… This is symbolic of held-back action - action that needs to be recalibrated in some way. A few weeks ago I had a Virgo client who was used to being very productive. Things weren’t working out for her. She couldn’t keep her normal conveyor belts turning productively. I saw the Mars backing up away from her 10th house (job) and back into her 9th (philosophy.) Mars represents men often times. Here’s what happened: A male consultant (9th house) was working with her to temporarily “shut down the factory” in order for her to reassess (retrograde) her actions (Mars.) Since Mars is the planet of aggression/assertiveness, I asked her, “Did he focus on you not being aggressive enough in your career direction?” She said, “Exactly, I wasn’t marketing hard enough, I didn’t have a bold enough mindset.” Now, what appears to have been a shut down in her operation was actually a breather – a time to refocus and sharpen her tools. Now that Mars is moving forward again since 1/30, she can get back “with it” as she is used to. Even to Virgos, sometimes we need to stop to sharpen the blades. You can’t just keep pushing and expect to be effective. Look to your life situation between mid-November and the end of January. You very well may see that the same theme has played out in your chart to your benefit.
Do Not Report to Work at 8:00am
Usually, around 8a.m. each day, the Sun is in traversing what is called the 12th house. When an event starts at that time, such as GOING TO WORK ON YOUR FIRST DAY, you have imprinted the rest of the years you will be working for that company with a 12th house flavor. That chart will rule your entire experience with that employer until you quit, and even after! And often times, that is what makes us feel imprisoned. This house is the prison of the horoscope (see this month’s Light House.) Yes, I am serious, and I am saying this: if you can control it, report to work on your very first day around 5 or 6 a.m. when the Sun is in the first house, which is much better, or perhaps delay it until 11:30 a.m., if you can. Then, the Sun is in the 10th house, which is much better for a “working” chart. Astrology can be weird, but it works!
Jung and Synchronicity
If the word “astrology” means anything in another language, it must stand for “synchronicity.” As Carl Jung discovered, it is the very basis of how astrology works. The examples are too numerous to mention, but you’d be fascinated to see the inner-workings of the “planets”. For example, I’ll be looking in the chart of a young man who’s in his twenties. Let’s say Saturn is positioning itself in his chart symbolizing that he’ll have to become more active making money. He needs to become more responsible. At the same time, the father gets laid off and can’t support his son as well.
A woman tells me that she just can’t stand working at her restrictive, repetitive job anymore. Just as she is nearing being fed up, the company goes through a hostile buyout and she ends up on unemployment – free to start a new life direction.
This is very common: Saturn transits over a woman’s Sun in her chart. The Sun represents physical parts of the body such as the heart or spine. At that very time, nothing happens to her, but her husband suffers a heart attack, while his chart is “idle.” The Sun represents the husband in her chart. I have no idea how it works, but I see its evidence almost every day. We’re all more connected than what the Holy Ego wants to acknowledge.
