while my kids were still in grade school and jr. high I found a book I think it was called the Educated Mind. It compared the worlds populations and ranked educational systems starting from pre-school to college. Italy had the best pre-school, Japan was best for teaching math in high school, and the untited states for college. I was stumped as to how the school system in America was preparing my children for the future. Then Collumbine happened, and everything was safty, and not education. Then we were presented with no child left behind. It was difficult but. my child while in high school. was exposed to the medical colleges stem cell researchers, and did work with a swiss doctor. Facinating stuff for me. I know some people don't like this area. There is something about this time period and science that is confusing me. As I type this, the United States no longer participates in some international science competion for children. I forget the ages, and the name. But when I was watching this amazing presentation all the educational experiences for my child were shunted for a more sports centered education.
