We need a chatroom!
Or at least a list of ones we could use, sign up time for and so on.

I suggest this because they are good for group healing, classes and other "official" gatherings on our favorite spiritual subjects. I've been involved in other message-boards that would do this, set up specific times for healing sessions and healing classes. My second Violet Flame attunement was through such a chat set-up and was also one of the more powerful I've experienced.

If y'all have any recommendations for chatrooms or can set one up, list it here and we can pick and choose. Other than using instant messenger programs like Yahoo, AOL or Skype, I can't think of any online that don't require being a member of a message-board.

If this has been brought up before, I apologize for not looking for it. If not, well, here we go :)

1. great idea!
how about finding a place to "meet" for healings, etc... cuz I don't think the mods will create one just for us

2. I don't think the software for this site supports chatrooms.
Plus, with over 140k members, a popular chatroom would breeze by so fast for posts that you wouldn't be able to read it! lol :)

There was another message-board posted here sometime back (spiritual messageboards, maybe?) that has a chatroom as I recall, but that would also be with that group of people, too. Not that it matters that much, but if this group wanted to be just themselves in a room, it would have to be set up somehow.

But there are bound to be stand-alone chatrooms out there just waiting to be used. Or we go to IRC (Internet Relay Chat) assuming it still exists. I don't ever hear of anyone using it...

3. Researching
This is a site I posted a while back that you might be referring to  and to be honest I haven't spent that much time there so not sure about their chat rooms.

http://www.spiritualforums.com/vb/

Googling I found some other ones but haven't registered yet so not certain about their chat rooms

http://www.path-ways.com/

http://www.indigocrystal.org/spiritchat/

There are others, google spiritual forums chat rooms for more options.

It would be an interesting experiment to say the least.

4. That's the forum I was thinking of!
Thanks for the reminder :D

I do understand that other spiritual forums and boards have their own chatrooms (one based in the UK was where I received my second VF attunement) but I was thinking more of chatrooms that were not set up through any existing forum/board. Something like this:

http://www.tinychat.com

But, if we all had a strong presence in one of those other forums, we could certainly have chats there, too :)

5. How about a community project - a wiki?
http://www.wetpaint.com/ .. I'm a member of a special interest group which uses wetpaint. It has an option for "chat", but honestly looks more like a thread type chat. Wouldn't it be great, though, to have a dedicated ASAH arena offsite (DU) to record all our great stuff and keep in touch? I would vote to keep it "private"-ish and of course no skeptics. There are a couple of other wiki option, IIRC. Can look it up if this is an interesting idea.

14. A wiki for the group might be interesting to have
:)

As far as the type of chat you say that site uses, it sounds a lot like the kind on this page:
Login Page - The Mountain

You have to refresh the page to see new posts, but that is an advantage to when you have a large group of people in a room and if you know chats like I do, get a dozen people together and the clowns (like me :P) are posting fast and furious while the screen scrolls by and you start to lose track of things ;)

So we can try yours and the rest and see what we think of them all. Probably have to do a poll

15. I like the idea of a wiki
There's so much great stuff posted. I'm agreeable to making it a poll option.

6. Your link sounds good to me
I think you should set one up

On another topic did you ever post any pics of your trip to NZ, if so point me to where I can see them :-)

10. I did post some pics in the photography forum
but didn't get much response. I have more to post, but kind of lost my interest when the thread sank with only a couple of people being interested and only in one type of photo out of the bunch.

Here's the thread and fair warning: there are quite a few images, so it might take a while to download ;)

7. I poked around a bit with that site and that is more than workable for me.
I used to use AIM and I have to admit I really dislike that software. This place doesn't require any downloads or software installation, and I am ALL for anything like that.

Good find!

:woohoo:

I think the next big thing will be to make sure nobody feels like they are left out or neglected. I can envision a scenario where somebody doesn't realize there is a chat and it makes them feel bad somehow.

Do you suppose it would be a good idea to just pick one night of the week and make that "chat night"? My suggestion would be a weeknight simply because I think there are several here who work weekends--but that is something to be discussed--rather than dictated--I think.

Whoever gets here first can post the link to the chat here and any who wish to can sign in.

Would that work, do you think?

11. "Chat Nights" are an excellent suggestion
and I have seen that work well elsewhere, especially where you have a majority in Australia/NZ and the rest in North America ;)

We would just make a new thread each time we start a chat-night so people know it's up and running right then.

8. Maybe if we come up with something useful -
you/we could suggest it to Skinner to offer something attached to this DU site. It just makes sense that some groups would want to connect occasionally and/or regularly.

12. I would guess we would try out these various chatrooms
to see which ones work best and then suggest to Skinner. I don't know how they'd go about linking to it, but they might know something about message-board chatrooms in general, too :)

16. I am not too sure how it works,
but I would think they would want to come up with something proprietary here so people wouldn't have to link outside. Not sure if that is even possible programmably here but if it were my site, I would think this would be the next wave of connectivity for members.

Whatever you do, I am interested and will try to keep with developments. Thanks for looking into it.

9. Maybe a place to practice intuitive readings?
As I was reading the thread, I thought a chatroom where we can practice giving and getting readings might be a fun thing. Like one night a week or so. I'd love it if Skinner can accommodate it but if not, I am sure there are plenty of other alternatives.

Love this whole chatroom idea! :) Here's a suggestion we use for our David Cook forums (don't judge me, I love him!): http://www.chatango.com/

13. One site I used to go to some had a javachat setup
where they could divide it into separate rooms, like for readings, classes and private sessions. Plus, you could double-click a name and get into a one-on-one private chat that way, too.

The chatango looks like it's good for moderating and such, but I do have to ask if it's that tiny? Because if you get a group of 8 or more, all wanting to talk, the posts will fly by and you'll miss what people say. I would hope that it's expandable in width. Otherwise it might as well just be a kind of shout out column.

Still, we should set up a chat night first, I think, or we just start tonight, trying out each type of room and see what happens :)
(I'll be back in an hour or so as I need to make a store/bier run...)
