NO. MORE. WAR - plz support my GD thread

As I sit and rant this morning I am struck by the irony of my son playing with his action figures and splitting thm into "sides" and having them challenge eachother...is it testosterone? is it just that human nature to polarize...?]

AND when i think about our evolution here and now... i want to cry at today
how can we justify ANY of it?

all I posted was the sentiment that NO WAR IS OKAY...
people get all upset about ww2 ...regardless thsat I was talking about all war since the dawn of time...

You will always get anger from someone there, no matter what the subject, even if you are trying to be funny and not at all serious. I stay away from GD entirely. Other than a few mild groups here and there, I tend to hang out mostly in The Lounge and here :)

I do agree with you, though, about this "memorial" day to "honor" the military. Other than the Coast Guard, none of them are truly protecting us at home. Only the National Guard comes close and that's only in response to natural disasters and other civilian emergencies. Why don't we change Memorial Day to honor all of the emergency services that are actually protecting us, right now? Why isn't there a Memorial Day for the police, fire and EMT crews? For that matter, let's include the civil engineers that work for our cities, counties and states, making sure our bridges don't fall apart. Or any number of other people and professions that protect our lives and freedoms right here, right now.

I guess the day-to-day work and inspections of your average civil engineer aren't so easily glorified in song and movies... ;)

I have that response myself to some things. I strive to be a less angry person, and wish I were naturally peacefull in all ways, but it is a struggle for me. Without any kind of coping methods to deal with people offering a different angle on a subject, some people just freak out! I freak out over human rights abuses, so I have to admit to freaking myself at times :crazy: But your thread offers me a way of looking at the whole, nothing for me to go into anger mode over, contemplation yes.

Many folks on the General Discussion board just need better coping skills, they are all fight or flight.
