Three Ranger instructors and a medic from Camp Frank D. Merrill in Dahlonega, Ga., were charged Friday in federal court, accused of plotting an armed robbery to steal cocaine from purported drug dealers, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia.

Staff Sgt. Carlos Alexis Lopez-Rivera, 30, Staff Sgt. David Ray White, 28, and Sgt. 1st Class Randy Lloyd Spivey, 32, are Ranger instructors assigned to the 5th Ranger Training Battalion in Dahlonega. Staff Sgt. Stefan Andre Champagne is a medic assigned to the 5th RTB.

Dahlonega is the site for the mountain phase of Ranger school.

Lopez, White and Champagne were arrested Thursday in Sandy Springs, Ga., by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Special Response Team. Spivey was arrested Friday at the Dahlonega training facility.

Lopez, White and Champagne were in court late Friday. They will remain in custody until a bond hearing scheduled for Tuesday.
