Fort Carson GI arrested on arson, drug charges

A soldier from Fort Carson, Colo., was arrested Wednesday and charged with arson and conspiracy to possess, with intent to distribute, cocaine.

The charges against Sandeo Pablo Dyson stem from an investigation into three Ranger instructors and one medic accused of plotting an armed robbery to steal cocaine from purported drug dealers in Georgia.

The two cases are unrelated, but the charges against Dyson resulted from the investigation against Staff Sgt. Carlos Alexis Lopez-Rivera, 30, Staff Sgt. David Ray White, 28, Sgt. 1st Class Randy Lloyd Spivey, 31, and Staff Sgt. Stefan Andre Champagne.

Lopez-Rivera, White and Spivey are Ranger instructors assigned to the 5th Ranger Training Battalion at Camp Frank D. Merrill in Dahlonega, Ga. Champagne is a medic assigned to the 5th RTB.

Dahlonega is the site for the mountain phase of Ranger school.
