Soldiers from 4th Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, at Fort Hood, Texas, will deploy next summer to Iraq, the Defense Department announced Tuesday.

About 3,500 soldiers belong to the brigade. Before it deploys to support Operation Iraqi Freedom, the brigade will be re-designated as 4th Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division.

The existing 4th Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, is currently deployed to Iraq. That unit, of Fort Bliss, Texas, will become part of the 1st Armored Division after it returns from Iraq.
