Seven GW students admit to hanging controversial posters
http://media.www.gwhatchet.com/media/storage/paper332/news/2007/10/08/News/Seven.Gw.Students.Admit.To.Hanging.Controversial.Posters-3022092.shtml

A group of seven GW students sent an e-mail to The Hatchet late Tuesday night admitting to hanging hundreds of controversial posters around campus early Monday morning.

The students - Adam Kokesh, freshman Yong Kwon, senior Brian Tierney, freshman Ned Goodwin, Maxine Nwigwe, Lara Masri and Amal Rammah - said their motives were misinterpreted. Students for Conservativo-Facism Awareness hung the posters in opposition to Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week, an event being held beginning Oct. 22.

Kokesh, a graduate student and Iraq War veteran, gained celebrity over the past year because of his vocal opposition to the war. Nwigwe and Rammah are also graduate students.

"It is to our great dismay that the student body and the media missed the clear, if subtle, message of our flier: the hyperbolic nature of the flier was aimed at exposing Islamophobic racism," the e-mail said.

<snip>

"At a minimum, these flyers violated the posting policy and did not properly use the University logo and they posted flyers without permission," Schario said. "That's, at a minimum, the offense."

NYVet comment- It appears that Adam, not content with going to anti war protests, now has to create Anti Islamic rhetoric to discredit the opposing side.

2. Elaborate please...
The OP was talking about a completely different topic, and I will indulge the thread hijacking.

6. sorry, not trying to hijack the thread
What I meant was this: The guys who posted these signs are fascists. It is ironic, because they are all up in arms about "Islamofascists", while at the same time they EXIST as: "Judeochristofascists".

That was all I meant.

3. The satirical poster put up by these students is only a preview of what
the anti-Arab bigots will be spewing during their sponsored week-long event.

It seems that some forms of expression are just too complicatd for some people to understand.

5. The media jumped all over it...
they clearly made it seem in their reports that this was some type of virulent anti-muslim group putting these things out, when it was obviously just the opposite. The flyers were completely over the top, but I suppose that WAS the point.

7. Is it bigotry to point out an action done by a group
that is not condemned by a majority of the other members of that group?

The reason I ask is because, with a remarkably small number of exceptions, I have seen NO condemnation of the killing of innocent people in marketplaces with car bombs by the Muslin community.

4. The only good thing I see that has come out of this..
is that they did force that racist group of yellow elephants to publicly denounce those flyers.
