Stripes LTTE: Stripes needs Coulter column
Stripes needs Coulter column

I’m tired of pantywaist liberals attacking Ann Coulter. She’s a highly regarded, successful author who writes an excellent syndicated column. The letter writer’s dislike of Coulter (“No ‘warm and fuzzies’ here,” letter, Oct. 31) has nothing to do with her talent, but everything to do with her politics. Her column is needed in Stars and Stripes.

Regarding the letter writer’s opinion that Fox News is slanted to the right, I’ve seen study results that show Fox is “fair and balanced,” as advertised. Perhaps the letter writer has so much watching CNN, CBS, NBC, etc., that he or she is blinded from seeing the truth.

He's referring to this LTTE:

No ‘warm and fuzzies’ here

I am writing this to all the self-described conservatives who are dissatisfied with the “liberal” slant of Stars and Stripes.

I am a liberal, and frankly, Stars and Stripes does not give me the warm and fuzzies when I read it. Let’s be honest about this: It is a collection of a wide variety of wire stories supplemented by some original reporting. That’s all it is, that’s all it tries to be.

I don’t think I have ever read an editorial written by the staff. I could be wrong, but mostly what is printed on the Op-Ed page tends to be syndicated columns. In my opinion, the choices there tend to skew toward the right. Some people want Stars and Stripes to be a “cheerleader for the military.” Isn’t it enough that we get a few hours every day of Fox News on AFN? Everyone knows that it is the Propaganda Directorate of the Republican Party. If I want someone to blow smoke up my butt, I can watch the TV.

One thing I would like to see less of in Stars and Stripes is the column of Ann Coulter, not because she’s conservative, but because she writes at the top of her lungs, like a skanky teenager who is ridiculed by the boys for being flat-chested. And ugly. Sarcasm became her coping mechanism. Her column must cost next to nothing to carry. Why not try carrying George Will or someone like that more often? He’s a verbose blowhard, but at least he can write.

1. "I’ve seen study results that show Fox is 'fair and balanced'"
I'd love to see a cite for that!

4. Most likely a well researched study by the prestigious heritage foundation
They do some incredible work!!!! yes they do! I wonder if they are being effected by the fiction writer's strike in Hollywood.

5. ...or the American Enterprise Institute?
Their fluffers appear regularly on NPR, so I'm sure it's credible.

6. Last week
there was a jerkoff from heritage on Diane Rehm's show and he'd say two words then tell everyone to go to their website. Diane cut him off just about every time. Ignorance glorified by "distinguished fellows."

2. haha... wow.
It's so sad that the people who actually think the media is liberal and that FOX is balanced only do so because they've been told that by Rush Limbaugh for years. It's almost as if these whiners think that if something is not 100% to the right, it must be to the left.

Once again, I marvel at how some folks can manage to live in a black & white world and not noticed all of the shades of gray around them.

Then again, if the letter writer thinks that Ann Coulter is talented and that "the letter writer has so much watching CNN, CBS, NBC, etc., that he or she is blinded from seeing the truth" (whatever that is supposed to mean), then perhaps they suffer from an intelligence problem. I wonder if these people ever try to look at who owns those media companies and whom they back? They think that NBC and CBS are liberal even though they donate more to the right? I can only assume that these people are either ignorant of any facts, too lazy to look anything up themselves, or assume that everyone in the world does what they do: vote against their best interests.
