FARMINGTON, Utah — Davis County prosecutors are dropping charges against a Hill Air Force Base employee who crafted more than 40 pipe bombs found stashed behind two area businesses.

The county will dismiss its case in lieu of federal charges filed against Raymond Bradley Parr in U.S. District Court Dec. 20, the county attorney’s office said.

“We agreed to drop the charges because the potential penalties are more significant in federal court than state court,” said Deputy County Attorney Troy Rawlings.

Parr, 48, of West Point is the supervisory marketing director for the 75th Air Base Wing Mission Support Group Services Division, according to Hill AFB.

Forty bombs stolen from a Clearfield storage unit owned by Parr were found behind a Layton car wash on Sept. 5. Five days later at least four more bombs were found behind a Roy convenience store.
