It's been several weeks, where are they now?
The Premise:

December 1st, 2006 - 6:29 pm |

Several weeks ago Hillary Clinton was on fire, Barack Obama was a curiosity, John Kerry was dead, John McCain was a lock and Mitt Romney was worth a chuckle.

This week Hillary Clinton is out of touch, Barack Obama is on fire, John Kerry is being interviewed by the Iraq Survey Group, John McCain is looking nervous and Mitt Romney is being attacked from all sides — which is to say he’s finally being taken seriously.

That’s the way these things go. Emotionally it can feel like you’re riding a rollercoaster in the middle of a tornado, but only if you buy into the idea that any of this matters.

It doesn’t matter. It’s blather. Blather squared. Megablather.

If you enjoy it, well, enjoy. But if it’s painful to you, or emotionally draining, then step back and look past all the noise toward the horizon. Because that’s what matters.

Your vision of America is more important than any candidate’s vision. Their job is to give you the country you want, not to convince you to accept the country they want to give you. So put your feet up, listen, and watch. The curtain’s going up soon, but there’s plenty of time to make an informed decision.

As in more than a year.

– Mark Barrett

2. truer words were never typed.
It all is just so much backyard, over-the-fence gossip, isn't it. That's what 90% of shows like Hardball are all about. He said-she said-they said- blah blah blah. Let's have more talk on these shows (and here at DU for that matter) about stuff that actually happened, not speculation about the future!

3. I profoundly could not agree more

Nobody know nothing. I have said that since I first started posting on this board. It's just that some people get paid a lot of money and get on TV or radio to say nothing.

I'm telling ya, nobody knows nothing. Anybody who tells you different is lying to ya. The problem with conventional wisdom is that while it is conventional, it's not wisdom.

6. Oh, that illegal immigrant story
in today's Glob was heaven-sent. Just heaven-sent. He has been bashing the Dems for this and doing his fear-mongering and xenophobic best to stir up anti-immigrant fever.

Hoisted on his own petard. Hehehehehehehe!

7. He was Olbermann's worse today.
Of course O'Leilly beat him out for the top spot, but Mittens got a dishonorable mention.

8. Romney is the perfect example of the negative view people have of politicians
he fits it all well. willing to do or say anything and just totally self serving. i wouldn't say this about MOST politicians. while many do certain things i think many still have a certain something they stand for. but i can't say that about Romney.

he is just pure sleaze.

9. he is the oiliest of the oily
His latest slimy maneuver, appointing someone with NO qualifications to head Massachusetts Biotechnology Council, just to qualify the guy for a pension and especially to thwart Deval Patrick's agenda, is just beyond the pale. I hope ALL his heaps of dirty laundry get aired in public-- the more the better, the sooner the better.
