Waaaay OT: John McCain on Global Warming Consequences
Just for laughs:

McCain: I have been to Greenland, I have been to the South Pole. I've been to the Arctic and I know it's real. I believe that we've got to go back to nuclear power. We've got to do alternative energy. We've got to have a cap and trade proposal which Joe Lieberman and I have proposed.

We need to do green technologies. Let me put it this way to you. Suppose I’m wrong, there's no such thing as climate change, and we adopt green technologies. Then we've just left our kids a better world. Suppose I am right and we do nothing? Then what kind of planet have we handed to our children.

Am I crazy, or does that bolded part look slightly familiar to anyone here???! Maybe McCain put it that way first, but I doubt it!

Found here.

1. Yup-- everyone copies how Kerry has talked up dealing with global
climate change. I do want to point out that McCain actually has a record on this, and is the best Republican on this issue.

Is anyone else weirded out by Lieberman's support of McCain? He really is no longer a Democrat. Nobody can have any confusion on that anymore.

2. It's true that a good environmental message is the important thing
But the wording was just too close -- it really made me laugh!

3. I'm not surprised
Two of the biggest issues for Leiberman are the environment and the War/National Seccrity. He is completely in sync with McCain. Leiberman was also one of the Democrats who was good on ethic bills. Here Obama is likely closer, though McCain has a semi- reasonable record here. Clinton, I will not discuss and Edwards has no record. Leiberman on economic issues was very much a centrist, so he may be to the right of all three Democrats (sort of like Edwards' senate record). Leiberman was better on civil rights than McCain.

But weighing issues by likely importance - he is a better match for McCain.

4. I think you're right
He pretty much lifted the words -- maybe not literally at the level of cut-and-paste, but somebody copied JK's argument, clearly. I don't think this is a coincidence.

6. Oh, come on. Let the little poser save face.
That's my subtitle for the McCain candidacy: Conservatives Saving Face.
