How much clearer can it be on Iraq
US Senator Kerry calls for schedule to hand war to Iraqis

(AFP)--1Dec2005/219 pm EST/1919 GMT
US Senator John Kerry, who was the Democratic Party's presidential
candidate in 2004, on Thursday demanded President George W. Bush set a
schedule to transfer responsibility of the Iraq war to Iraqis as a step toward
withdrawing US troops.
"If we just continue along the road we are going now without a more
concrete transfer of responsibility -- a target schedule by which you begin to
turn over provinces, by which you specifically begin to shift the
responsibility -- I think a lot of people fear it's going to be more of the
same," Kerry said.
"I am not asking for a specific timetable to withdraw. I am asking for
specific timetable of transfer of authority, transfer of responsibility of the
shift and the setting of a benchmark specifically that allow us to bring our
troops home," the Massachusetts Democrat said.

5. I'm not the biggest Big Eddie fan,
but I r-e-a-l-l-y want Kerry to be on his good side. He speaks directly to the blue-collar dems that have gone astray in recent elections. We need those people on our side, and they're not reading Kos. They're listening to Ed Schultz.

9. Damn I missed that BUT he just played a JK clip
about "the 80/40 number" (actually I think it's 80/45 - 80% of Iraqis want U.S. to leave, 45% think it's ok to kill U.S. soldiers).

I'm starting to like Big Eddie.

3. How cool is it that he got to criticize Bush at the White House
"Still, recent good economic news don't appear to be bolstering Bush in opinion polls. And earlier Thursday, Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., told reporters outside the White House that Americans remain concerned about high healthcare and gasoline costs and employment."

This must just rock. Show up at the other guys house, watch your most excellent bill get signed and then punch him out. My day is full.

8. C'mon now, how can you call this clear?
There are more than 3 words in each sentence.

For the people, on both sides, that can't understand Kerry's message on Iraq, it must be his use of complete sentences.

10. Sometimes, reporters cant understand what they hear

The Massachusetts senator described a scaled-down role for U.S. troops, to help guard oil pipelines and guard people working on construction projects.

"You don't need 160,000 people to be doing what we're doing in Iraq today, this is not World War Two, this is not Korea, this is not Vietnam. The principal enemy are IEDs (improvised explosive devices) and suicide bombers," Kerry said.

I am pretty sure, and DJ agrees with me, that he said that these missions (guard oil pipelines and guard people working on construction projects) should be filled by the Iraqis.

13. I loved how Ed said...
... that he liked Kerry's being right there to snap at Bush's heels, being RIGHT THERE in response. Beautifully illustrates JK as the Fighting Dem we always knew he was!
