All politicians are corrupt
So, we finally begin to expose the corruption with this particular bunch of Republican yahoos in Washington. People are really getting disgusted, rising up, responding against Bush, seeing the light.

So what do "we" do? Respond by saying Democrats are just as corrupt as Republicans.

Do you notice the number of threads like that that are popping up?

1. Yes
They hate Democrats and are trying to project Republican corruption onto the Democrats. They don't make sense and have nothing to support their arguments except bitterness, RW talking points and a wish.

2. They know it's bull.
Tell them to run for office and reduce the number by one.

Only an idiot would make a broad brush statement about all Democratic pols. It's incredibly prejudicial for a bunch of so-called liberals. Unless they can point to specific instances, it's just so much baloney.
That's not to say there aren't some corrupt Dems, of course. It's a big party, and every big party has a couple of people you wish hadn't shown up.

3. They could at least wait
until an actual name and crime have been charged. The real stupidity is that they scream at Democrats to launch the investigations, then when they expose the corruption, they dump the same Democrats over the cliff. Why would any Democrat take up a cause to be treated like that?

4. Dorgan had an "ethical" question involved by investigating

Delay when he got a fundraiser given by Abramhoff.

I can see why some people think you don't know who to trust. BUT I disagree with general party bashing no matter which party is involved.

Like right now, the republican party is steeped in corruption and it hurts Americans to pretend 'they're all corrupt.'

I remember wearing my "Bush the pinochio president" t'shirt before the election and this Bush supporter told me "They all lie." and then she called kerry a flip-flop.

8. Well, it's pretty hard to argue with someone who KNOWS
Bush is a liar and instead of confronting THAT reality, instead insists that 'They all lie'. AND to say it without an ounce of proof!

And kerry is definately an exceptional exception!

That was one thing that drew me to him over Dean. He came across as honest and full of integrity. He also came across as a guy who saw a lot! He also had lots of experiences in gov't and in diplomacy and in the BCCI that made him heads and shoulders above the rest.

9. Which isn't the same thing as money laundering
Delay is charged with cycling money through his campaign to the RNC and back into the state coffers. Cunningham took over a million dollars for personal use, outright, not campaign donations. It's the difference between lies about a blow job and lies about war. I suppose we could start saying lies are lies too.

10. well, the people who say that "lies are lies" also
blush at the idea of Bush being held accountable for his lies. (In my experience!)

They seem to be quite angry about Clinton.

They seem to be passive about Bush and fall for the lie that Bush is a Christian so he couldn't have really lied.

11. I knew it.
Confirmed. "All politicians are corrupt" is just a whine and an excuse not to be a good citizen.

Shame on all these lazy, so-called "free-thinkers". I hold them personally responsible for both our political mess and the general callousness of our society.

Whichever side they're on... they are equally responsible.

13. David Brock said this was planned
He used to be in the Right Wing Noise Machine and he claims that the 'plague on both your houses' idea is designed, on purpose, to hold down the vote and make it seem like there are no significant differences between Democrats and Republicans. If the population believes that their vote will result in no significant change no matter who they vote for, then they are more likely to stay home and not try to affect change at all.

This type of idea works to keeping a particular power structure in place. It's interesting to have it come back onto DU again. The Democrats must be starting to break through, so they have to be pushed down again by making Republican crimes seem universal for all pols.

14. you know what else I heard on the teevee today
That some repub or other said that this was no time to play the "blame game"! Yep, they've dragged that one out again, too.

Any time their party is in trouble, that's when it's no time to play the blame game. When there is a chance to bash a Dem, then it certainly is time. Hypocrites.

Oh and by the way, TayTay, I just love your (well MA's) Rep. Ed Markey! He was part of a three-man slap down of the administration over the latest 9/11 Commission report, along with two Reps. from Michigan. I suppose Markey'd have been in line for Senator, had JK become the Prez? He was just great.
