Snow in Boston on Friday.
http://www1.whdh.com/
(Click on video link for extensive weekend forecast.)

Bring boots. There might be some delays at Logan on Friday. Sat. should be okay. Sun looks okay as well. Monday departures look to be no problem.

Just an up-to-the-minute report. Sigh! (I'm getting 6-11 inches in my area.. No problem. It should be cleared by Sat without too much problem. It's Friday night that's a problem. There will be some delays, but the storm is supposed to be over by 7:00 pm or so.)

1. I love how you're so calm about the snow.
For you guys 6-11 inches is no big deal - if they predicted that for here, the grocery store shelves would be wiped clean of everything edible and/or drinkable. I'm looking forward to seeing the snow, it's been a couple of years since we've had more than a few flakes.

4. The TV stations still hype it to high heavens.
People used to run to the grocery store to get massive quantities of things. (Some still do. There is a run on beer, liquor and cigarettes and ice cream. Sigh!)

There was a storm last year that deposited three feet of snow on the Boston area. I had the day off, worked from home and waited the storm out. The roads were clear and most people went back to work the next day. (That much snow is, I hope, very rare and usually happens in mid to late winter up here.) Again, it's Boston, it's winter, sometimes it snows. We are prepared for it, as it tends to happen every year, more or less. We have thousands of pieces of snow removal euqipment that go on the roads and highways and do the sanding and clearing and life eventually goes on. The TV stations around here love to report on snow storms, but most people just seem to get on with it. (A lot of folks will stay home tomorrow or leave early from work. Again, this is pretty standard stuff.)

It should make the Public Gardens absolutely sparkly though. We have to see the Boston Common lights and the lights in the Public Garden on Sat before the snow melts or gets all ugly and dirty.)

2. I'm looking forward to warmer temperatures
Amazingly, Boston will be semi-warm compared to the frigid (read: 0-10 degree) cold we've had here for a week or so now.

3. True.
In December temps in the 40's are relatively balmy. The proximity to the ocean keeps things warmer here.
