Safe travels to everyone traveling tomorrow
for the first wave of The Boston Invasion. Let's hope the weather doesn't cause any more problems like what happened in Chicago tonight. (And let's hope everyone involved in that accident is okay!) Be safe everyone!

1. Thanks!

The weather's REALLY wretched here, so much that I'm looking FORWARD weather-wise to going to Boston and getting somewhere WARMER. I just hope my flight out of Champaign isn't delayed - I don't know WHAT I'd do if I missed my connector flight.

Edit: Jesus, I just read about the plane in Chicago. I'm not in Chicago, but the wind here is howling and there's practically a whiteout. I so hope that crap is gone by tomorrow :scared:

2. The snow in Boston should be winding down late afternoon tomorrow
There might be flight delays, since it's supposed to snow pretty hard through the morning and early afternoon here. I've been hearing we're due for 6-8 inches of snow by the time it ends. So pack accordingly.

3. After that, the weather is pretty good

Temps in the mid to upper 30's. Low wind. Sparkly skies. A little cool for mid Dec, but not bad. We just have to get through tomorrow. (They don't know how much snow Boston will get. Right now it's either 2-4 inches with a switch to rain or 6-10 inches, which will be an inconvenience and involve some delays.)

Rox, you and I get 10+ inches of snow tomorrow. Should be clear by Sat though.

4. One of the joys of condo living - no shovelling
And my car sits in an underground garage until I'm ready to leave for work. And at work, it sits in another garage. Yay! :)

6. So, about 24 hours for you
and you'll be in Boston. (About 3-4 miles or so from where Sentah Keh-ree lives in town.) 36-38 hours from meeting Vektor, me, IslandBlue and Rox. (And everyone else. And you get to re-unite with Fire and GRMLGC.)

This is gonna be awesome!

I just pray I don't get delayed HERE. Other than that, all systems seem to be go.

8. We will meet at the Park Plaza.
Edited on Thu Dec-08-05 11:09 PM by TayTay
I am getting there somewhere between 11:00 and 12:00. Others will follow quickly. We can then get something to eat and wait for more folks to come in. Or not. (We should have quite a crowd by around 1:30 or so.) We can then decide what we want to do next. We tour for a while, we talk, we take pictures, we talk some more, We see Beacon Hill and check out houses, we talk, we see more old stuff, we talk, we see the Christmas lights, talk, people break up for individual pursuits across Boston, we talk, then we all meet again Sunday around the same time at the same place.

Sunday is more scripted. We meet, we talk, we wait for others, we talk some more, we eat, we talk, we walk the Freedom Trail, we quit touring at Quincy Market/Faneuil Hill, take some pics, eat, buy souvenirs, talk, go back to the hotel, get dressed, talk, and then we go to the Big Event. Then, OMG, we will talk all night.

Work for you?

A taste of stuff to come:

Christmas! I love Christmas.

9. Have a save trip!
And a nice weekend for all of you! Be aware that great danger awaits you there:
slippery streets, lot of alcohol, never-ending giggle sessions and an overdose of Kerry-charm.

I hate air-travel (white knuckle, Xanax popping sort of hate) so keep your fingers crossed for me. I am trembling with fear just thinking about it.

13. Keep your eyes on the prize
A certain tall, handsome Senator awaits at the end of your journey. Does that help alleviate your flying anxiety just a little?

14. Weather is getting nastier
My workplace is sending people home at noon. And they never close. I haven't seen a weather report lately, but I assume that the predictions have grown more dire.

19. IT's, ahm, a white-out right now
I told my husband to stay at work. It's supposed to be all over by early evening. Let the plows get out and do their job. (I am 30 miles north of Boston, near Lowell. We re getting the brunt of this storm.) I have my fingers crossed for the earlier arrivers. (Tomorrow, again, should be fine.)

18. Oh I am going to have to save that one.
The coverage around here during the DNC was the funniest damn thing ever. Boston has this notion that nobody likes us. We are always sort of shocked and then unbecomingly mushy when people say they like Boston. ("Really? You liked us? How'd that happen? I bet you didn't drive, that must be it. Otherwise, ahm, what was it? Maybe we can figure it out and do it all the time.")

20. This is going to sound crazy but here goes.
I see cities in colors and Boston is "pink". I think it has something to do with the energy. Intersting, my home town, Rye , Ny, also New England is also "pink". I Love Manhatten, but it is "grey".Maybe it is because my Grandmother was from Boston, and I spent a lot of time there partying when I was in college! We also had a house in Conn. I commuted from. Sigh. I would move back in a heartbeat!

21. Oh, and to prove I am certifiable, I love snow!
And I am actually far colder in AZ and Ca. than I ever was on the East coast! And I include my years in Albany NY with the forty degree below zero wind chill factor!

22. To the folks coming here from out of town
Please remember to print out and bring your list of names, phone numbers, etc. And if your flight is going to be seriously delayed or cancelled, please call someone on the list and let them know, so we don't worry.

23. My wishes are probably a little late but
First - be safe~ keep hearing about the weather in Boston.

Second - Have a fantastic time!! I'm so excited for all of you and can't wait to hear all about it, and see all the pics.

Third - Someone please give Kerry a hug for me. This can be used as an excuse to hug him.
I wanna hear that someone grabbed him - nice hands tho!
