Does C-SPAN have a monopoly on footage from the Senate floor?
Because I WISH there was a way JK could make his incredible floor speeches, like the impassioned one he's making right now, available online. As it is now, if you don't glue yourself to the television all day, have TIVO or the equivalent, or have some sort of way of recording it as it streams, it's basically lost forever. So many times, I've wanted to have it recorded SOMEHOW so that I could show it to friends to give them some idea of just how hard JK works for the citizens of this country. It certainly would have helped us during the 2004 campaign when so much junk was being thrown around about what he did or didn't say in the Senate.

I know his Senate site used to have a few floor speeches, notably one of the best about Iraq from before the election, and I think Noisy Democrat was able to use footage from it in her excellent http://www.kerryoniraqwar.com/ site. She certainly used it as a reference while researching his statements.

Since C-SPAN only rarely replays footage from the day's coverage of the Senate and seldom seems to choose JK's speeches to replay, and the cost of buying one of their daylong session coverage is prohibitive, most people never get to see the kind of righteous, rational, gorgeous ranting he's doing as I write this.

Wouldn't it be great if either his Senate site or some other approved site could host an archive of his best floor speeches? Not just because I'd watch them over and over again (really not just because of that!) but because they would make such a fantastic campaigning resource, one we could all use to show as well as tell people who this man is and what he does with his gifts and opportunities.

2. I agree....
...some C-Span video is of the entire day in the Senate and costs about $300 for the day! If that video could just be made available on johnkerry.com, then those of us who support him could share it with others in our communities. I think C-Span probably owns the rights to it, though.;(

3. FedNet.net
They offer a service to Congress to stream and host their speeches, etc. I think the webmaster said it was around $200 a month or so. It would be nice if the Senate site would do something like this.
